Well if she has Canadian citizenship then yes you can make the move. She will have to sponsor you under the 'spouse' category but unless you have some criminal history etc. you will get a Permanent Resident visa. All the info is available on the Canadian government website.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse.asp

As a nurse, she cannot just automatically work as a nurse in Canada however. She has to qualify in the Province in which you choose to live. As a Canadian citizen, your wife will not need a visa to work obviously but she will have to write an exam. Read more here:
https://www.cna-aiic.ca/en/becoming-an-rn/work-in-canada

I don't know for sure but I believe it usually takes around a year before she would be finished with the process and able to work full time as a qualified nurse.

How anyone will like living in a country is of course a subjective issue and so there is no definitive, objective answer to that.

You might want to read this article:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/11850330/Nine-countries-where-it-is-better-to-grow-old-than-the-UK.html

As you will see, Canada outranks the UK as a country to grow old in. That's probably the most important criteria anyone should look at when thinking about choosing a country to live in.

rixx - Check the immigration website - it's a terrible maze, but has all the rules:
cic.gc.ca

here is another website:
jobalerts@workingincanada.gc.ca

Every province is different. In British Columbia where we live on Vancouver Island in a city called Nanaimo, it is fantastic. Vancouver is a living hell. I was there for 29 years, before going to Nanaimo. Anywhere on Vancouver Island and South of there is excellent. Victoria is the Capital, but expensive. The way it works there is that a foreign nurse must pass the same board exams that a Canadian nurse takes. Check into the Vancouver Island Health Authority. In BC there are 5 different health authorities. Other immigrants get corporate sponsorship's, My wife was a family sponsorship. She is a Filipino. Her Visa cost $1040 Canadian and then we had to wait a year. They checked every aspect of her history from birth, school records, job experience, etc. even though we were married. Then there was a medical exam. It is very difficult to get a visa. You might get a working permit Visa. Southern BC has the nicest weather, though cloudy and wet in the winter. Good Luck. Speaking French as well as English helps.

IF you're patient you should not have any trouble getting into Canada. Your wife should be able to get a work visa right away and work doing some generic job; security, grocery store, sales, etc. while she is waiting.
I'm a US and Cad citizen who never lived in Canada, grew up in Florida. Looking into moving to BC, been there many times and like it. Downtown VC is jammed with Chinese but the south ; Delta, White Rock are less crowded as is VC Island.
I'm pretty tired of the US with all our problems, it's a mess. I was just in Toronto and the people are a different breed than here in the US; so friendly and nice, NOT ignorant and mean like here in the US. Pretty tired of it.
Can't see how anyone would not LOVE Canada.

FloridaGuyinBasil, I have a couple of comments for you.

First, the OP's wife as a Canadian citizen like yourself, does NOT need to get a Visa for anything. As a Citizen she can work from day one, as can you. All she and you need to do on arrival is get a Social Insurance Number. You simply go to any Service Canada office, with your proof of Canadian Citizenship and ask for one. You will walk out with it.
http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/fi-if/index.jsp?app=prfl&frm=nas2120&lang=eng

Second, Canadians do NOT refer to Chinese people or any other nationality, ethnic group or religious group as if there was something to avoid. There are bigots in Canada but they are by far in the minority and if you talk like you write here, you will not make yourself many friends doing so. I have noticed in several of your postings that you exhibit prejudices FloridaGuy that are not acceptable. Get rid of your prejudices if you want to live in Canada.

@FloridaGuy - speak for yourself. The advice was pretty sound and sage and if I was you I'd strong suggest you heed it.

You can lead a horse to water but if it is too stupid to drink it will suffer the consequences.

Well, I thought I was trying to be nice and give the guy the benefit of the doubt. But apparently, "NONE OF US' agrees with me.

Well, there is an 'abuse' button fortunately.

@OldPro - I did fully agree with you and did use the "abuse" button.

Wasn't the first time I noticed the "slurs" against others so felt I needed to comment also. The response I got fully confirms my suspicions of the biased thinking. Won't be helping or commenting to that particular Poster in future.

BTW - your advice is pretty spot on :)

Well wafa, it seems the abuse button doesn't do much good in this forum. I have to say I have noticed a definite lack of moderating overall.

Have you noticed at the bottom of each page where it invites people to become a moderator for the sub-branch? On a few it says, 'here are the moderators for this branch' and you see a name or perhaps two. But on most sub-branches there are none.

@OldPro - I hadn't noticed this Forum was looking for Volunteer Mods however there doesn't seem to be much Moderation.

Well - onward and upward - don't mind sharing what I know or insights I might have.

Doesn’t like the ignorant and mean people in the US and wants to immigrate to Canada – but doesn’t want to put up with immigrants (that he is no doubt going to have a very difficult time telling apart from all the second and third generation Indo and Chinese Canadians). Canada’s tolerance for diversity is one of the things that makes us such a rich country and sets us apart.

There was an ad recently or something that I saw which showed a young woman being told by a bigot in Toronto, 'why don't you go back to where you came from' and she answered, 'where, Brampton?' LOL

For those who are not Canadian, Brampton is a suburb of Toronto.
