My husband may be transferring from his New York office to the Toronto office. I was hoping to do my job in NYC remotely but that may not happen. How difficult is it for an American to find a job in Canada? I work in the area of communications, internal communications specifically. Would I qualify for a work permit? Thanks!
It's hard. Here's some basic information. I'm not a professional in this field so Google will be your friend. OutOfHereUSA gave you good advice to focus on the actual Government of Canada websites rather than third party sites like the one I linked to. I only linked there because it gives a nice overview of the whole process rather than because I recommend their service.
Finding professional work is generally not that challenging in Canada, or at least no more so than anywhere else. Of course I don't know your qualifications and "internal communications" could mean just about anything so I have no idea how easy or hard your search would be. I can tell you that you should have all your paperwork lined up first because most Canadian employers won't hire people under the table.
