Nurse wanting to move to Canada

Hi My name is Petra, I'm an Australia citizen hoping to move to Canada with my family. I'm a Registered Nurse with 12 years experience. I'm a single mum.

I wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of which agencies I have to contact. I have recently been in touch with canadianvisa.org but I didn't feel comfortable with them as they required me to pay US$1140 on the spot. I could have paid but my gut just told me to put them on hold.

Are there any nursing agencies that can assist me

Thank you

The Canadian govt has plenty of websites out there for immigration, do a google search.
STAY AWAY from 'private' companies, they can't do anything you can do yourself.
There must be some nursing organizations online too.
There are also some worldwide job search websites that have Canadian sites too; like INDEED Canada, etc.

Hello. I definitely agree with OutOfHereUSA about not paying any agencies. You won't need them as long as you can read the government websites and follow instructions patiently.

Here's an entry point about fast track immigration for skilled workers.

Here's a private company link which I again don't recommend using but it has seemingly good information about nurses immigrating.

Good luck!

OutOfHere - In British Columbia, for example Nanaimo on Vancouver Island West of Vancouver which is too crazy and expensive, there is the Vancouver Island Health Authority which handles hiring. There are 4 or 5 Health Authorities in B.C. It’t a really big province. The weather is the warmest in Canada though wet and cloudy in the winter. Nanaimo South to Victoria is best location. North of here is wetter and colder. Nanaimo has the ferry to Vancouver so does Victoria, but it’s a ways from town. Each Health Authority has their own hiring boards. They all have websites. Check it out. Good luck, eh! I left the USA 46 years ago. No Vietnam War for this Quaker.

Congratulations on avoiding Vietnam, standupguy, seriously. One of the best things Canada ever did was take in those Americans who refused to fight in that war. I wish we had done the same with the Iraq war and I'd like to see us do it again with the DACA people who are being threatened with deportation from the US now.
