I am investigating several locations in Chile to possibly move to. I have 10 + years experience teaching Paragliding and am aware that the local community in Antofagasta would welcome a school. A friend of mine was there and said that the weather is like San Francisco in the summer (doesn't sound too bad, but he said it is like that all year through - perhaps a bit monotonous).

How about the culture there? Are there things to do, restaurants in town. I know the region is trying to build up its tourism, are they having some success with this?

Of course, after recieving feedback on a lot of this stuff, I will visit and get a first hand impression. I am just trying to get an advance look at the region and if it would fit my wife and I.

Oh, a big question - She is in the Hotel Industry. Would she be able to find work there. She is currently the Director of Sales for a 600 room Hotel in San Francisco. Keep in mind, we are not looking to advance our careers with this move, just make enough to live in Chile for a few years.
