Hi shortyj44,

1. The best times to travel depends on what you want to see and where you plan to go.
If you like hot weather, December to February might be for you. Just keep in mind this is also high season in Chile, and most Chileans themselves travel within Chile during this time.
Winter is from around May/June to August. It can rain throughout the country at this time, and snow in the mountains from the north to the south. If you enjoy skiing/snowboarding, this might be a good time for you.
My favourite time is September. This month usually marks the beginning of spring, and the whole country celebrates the patriotic festivities. Although the festivities are Sept. 18th, the excitement and fun can be felt all month.

2. Where are you traveling from? The airline in Chile is LAN. I have traveled to and from Canada with Air Canada very comfortably. Or you can always use despegar.cl to find the cheapest flights.

3. Booking.com and venere.com are good searching for hotels.

Have fun!

Two good Internet sites for starting a hotel price search are Kayak.com and Trivago.com
