Chile to Argentina Overland Driving

Hi guys,

Planning on driving into Bariloche next week from Puerto Varas in my car (which has Chilean up-to-date plates and paperwork) and I have some questions re: paperwork required to enter.

So far I've seen that you should have the following:
- Some sort of "extra insurance" that covers your entire stay in Argentina. What would this insurance be called in Chile?
- Some Customs document stating the car's history leaving and entering Chile. What would this doc be called?

That's about it...all other paperwork is up to date. Very much appreciate your help here!

Been there - did that but my wife and I toured all of Argentina and Uruguay in our Peugeot.

The insurance is mandatory and you can get it on-line and print the document on your home printer - as we did. It's offered by a few Chilean companies for a few months up to one year.

The only document you need is the registration you got from the Registro Civil Chileno in your name.

We also did Bariloche and it was great! Enjoy
