Valdivia is very cold, wet and buried under a cloud of thick smoke during the winter. The smoke is caused by the locals who burn wood too keep warm. The same is true for all towns and cities in the south. During the summer all of the south is absolutely beautiful. I am becoming a resident of Chile and I will winter someplace in the north and summer almost anywhere in the south. You need to come to Chile long enough to learn what the weather and Chilean customs are like. It is expensive here but the total freedom and weather make it the best place in the world to be for now.
