" Sorry, I''ve never lived there, but it is just over the border from Hong Kong, so perhaps the American Consulate in Hong Kong at 26 Garden Road, Hong Kong Tel: (852) 2523-9011 Fax: (852) 2845-1598 may have some information. Also, you could try the American Chamber of Commerce at 1904 Bank of America Tower, 12 Harcourt Road Central, Hong Kong Tel: (852) 2526-0165 Fax: (852) 2810-1289 or website http://www.amcham.org.hk/ Also, there is the Hong Kong chapter of the American Women''s Association at 47 Kennedy Road Block C7, Hong Kong Tel: (852) 2527 2962 Fax (852) 2865 7737 Gillian Kew "

" It would help considerably if you could be specific by what you meant by resources. Shezhen is on the border with Hong Kong and has every amenity imaginable. If it isn''t in Shenzhen, there is a 45 minute train ride to the center of Hong Kong. If you can''t find it in Hong Kong it doesn''t exist. Ed Hahn "

" Just to add a little bit more information. I had been working almost two years in Shenzhen Area (bigger than Shenzhen city). Shenzhen is a very new city with a lot of nice places to stay. I recommend Shekou, which it is at half an hour from train but has also direct boat to Hong Kong (Central and TsimShaTsui). There are golf areas, a University where to study Chinese (one of the best and most beautiful of China), you can see Hong Kong TV,... and as Ed Hahn told you the best is that it is next to Hong Kong. Shenzhen has also train station connected with the rest of China and also airport. Food in South of China is well know as the best of the country and people is familiar with foreigners. If you need more specific information you should be more specific. Josep Giro "

" Thank you for your response. Your information has been helpful. My most important interests are resources for my three-year-old. Currently, we are in Manila, where my daughter goes to a pre-nursery school, a dance school and a gym school. I would like to know if there are any similar resources in Shenzhen, particularly for English speaking children. I am also interested in any expat organizations, particularly for spouses. Your help is highly appreciated. Teresa Gross "
