" Hi. We''re Expats currently living in Hong Kong but moving to Shanghai next summer. We have two kids 5 & 7 and I''m interested in a scool with a British Curriculum. Anyone know if the English Schools Foundation has something in Shanghai? Also, I have heard there are expat communities in Pudong and some other place. Can someone tell me about the makeup of the communities, I''m looking for something with a European and American mix. Also interested in learning about Clubs and organizations, and reputable language schools for Mandarin. If you have any info, I''d really appreciate it. Thanks much "

" Michelle, For basic information on expat life in Shanghai, the following resources will probably help you out quite a bit. There is a weekly email newsletter which you can sign up for (its free) at www.xianzai.com, and which covers a wide variety of expat activities quite extensively (they also have newsletters for a number of other cities in China). The website at www.chinanow.com also offers tons of information about life in Shanghai (and other cities). www.thatsshanghai.com is the website for Shanghai''s most popular expat magazine, and likewise gives excellent information about what''s going on in Shanghai. These sites should provide information (and contact numbers) for most of the questions you asked here. In addition (to make a little pitch here), I am in charge of a relocation company who''s services cover both Shanghai and Beijing; and our headquarters are actually in Hong Kong, which would make contact very easy. If you feel you need any more professional assistance with your move (we can help with registering your children for school; finding an appropriate apartment; giving city orientation and cultural training; etc.), please feel free to contact me at jlombard@chinarelo.com John "
