Editing/writing job opportunities in Beijing or other bigger cities?

Hi,

My name is Sapna Nayyar, I am an Indian-Canadian woman currently working for a Beijing government publication, Beijing Review (a weekly newsmagazine). Since my one-year contract is coming to an end in 3 months (July 9 -- same day my visa here expires, which I must renew before that), and I'm not renewing it, I am now looking for a new job in which I can edit and/or write, preferably news and/or articles on other subjects e.g. culture, society, entertainment -- basically, a journalism-related job that requires native English speakers and doesn't care if you don't know Chinese (my Chinese is very limited). I would like to remain in Beijing, but I would also be open to journalism-related opportunities in Shanghai or any other part of China, preferably a cosmopolitan if smaller area (Ideally, I'd prefer a place that's used to foreigners and single-woman friendly. And the reason I'm emphasizing journalism jobs is that I have a journalism background, and the only teaching experience I have is tutoring one-on-one. But I'm also open to corporate communications/PR jobs that emphasize editing and writing and need native English language skills only.)

I love this country and would like to spend another year here. So if anyone knows of any relevant opportunities, please e-mail me at: s5nayyar@netscape.net

Hello
this is kai. I just moved to Shanghai. I would suggest a couple really interesting webpages: www.expatsh.com/www.expatsinchina.com/www.friedlnet.com/www.escapeartist.com/www.asiaxpat.com/www.chinanow.com/
Good luck finding something. I think in Shanghai you will have the biggest chance. This city is really booming and there is no end in sight. You should really take a look at Shanghai. I certainly was really surprised and everybody says this will be the New York of Asia.
By the way if you interested in good health insurance I can definetely help you. I work for a company that specializes on expatriates only. We are an american company and have offices worldwide. It is definetely worth to compare with you present plan.
Just e-mail me if you have any questions, regardless if it is about shanghai or insurance.
kaip@gbgi.net or kpoepplau@yahoo.com
Take care
kai
