We consider to move with our two dogs to China, Beijin-Area. Do you have any experiance in bringing dogs into China? We heard from the China Ambassy, that a quarantine period of one month will be applied upon arriving of the dogs, is this actually forced through? I appreciate any feedback. Thank you very much Christian

Please do not only investigate the immigaration to China. Depending on your home country (or next posting) it might be much more difficult to get the animal re-imported from China. E.g. the UK used to have a quarantine period of 6 months! And you have to pay for accomodation and food during that time.

Dear Kerstin,
thank you for your advice. You are right, we have made the experiance with the UK already ... our dogs will not do it a second time.
Best regards Christian

May I suggest that you read my article on ExpatExchange re keeping dogs in China?
Personally, I would not import, but acquire and dispose locally - for the dogs' sake
Best wishes,
Andrew

If one takes the Trans-Siberian rail from Moscow to Beijinng, you will find little puppy dogs as passengers and therefore, there is not quarantine if arrival is through this method.
