Unless you have worked in Asia before, no other expat experience will fit you for China. We were graduate linguists and career expats with many years overseas experience (myself = multinational financial services; my wife = British Council) in Europe and South America, but that did not prepare us for the culture shock that is China ... light years ahead of the West. Remember: China is a much older civilisation than Europe, let alone the USA, and that you can learn far more from them than they from you. From personal observation, your compatriots in particular have difficulty in understanding this concept

I developed my own business at Beijing and if you ask me, it was easier than the States.

But I was self -employed and hired only 24 pople but they were foreigners not Chinese.

If you have experience in the UK then you will have an advantage over American Managers.The UK is extremely infuencial there and the American are not well liked. As an American you do have have an advantage, as during the national news the USA is usually mentioned significantly more than other countries. The USA is a benchmarch of China.
