Are 130,000RMB good?

Hi friends,

I have been offered to relocate to Beijing for 3-4 years with my three kids and wife (family of 5). The company would be paying for the house and the international school and 130000 RMB per month after tax (plus the trip back home once a year, and other amenities) What do you think? From what I've read it depends weather you live as an expat (I still don't understand the expression) or as a local.

I will greatly appreciate your input

thanks!

Hi Spiribizki,

This is Vincent in Beijing. Chinese. Relocation service supplier for expatriates from client companies. Basically in Beijing, expatriates' life expenses is a ittle higher than local Beijinger. I think this can answer about your doubts. School should be the key problem for your family. How old are your children?
How many bedrooms is needed?A same-sized family will pay 8000RMB for house per month.
If 13,000RMB covers house costs, tuition and tickets, i have to say, it's not big budget at all.

You can send me an email to vincent.wei@kelt-china.com.

Hopefully i could offer more information to help.

Hi Vincent,

Thank you for your reply. The company will cover the house and the international school (they gave us like 9 different choices). I made a mistake is not 130,000 RMB it is 130,000 HKD, actually 134,000 HKD which converts to 117,000 RMB per month for living expenses, food, utilities, transportation, extra tickets (they pay one round trip a year for the family in economy)...the question is...will it be enough for an expat? and if so, will we be able to save? thanks a lot again
