Fly to Hong Kong, take the ferry boat from HK airport to Shekou Port, Shenzhen-- a 30minute ferry ride. There is a Metro (the best subway anywhere Period) station in front of the Ferry Terminal. From there you can go all over Shenzhen cheaply. Take the #2 line to Grand Theater station. There is an Exit from that station to KK Mall. You can rent a long term apartment in KK 100 with kitchen and laundry for a month cheaply. Look up KK Mall on internet. It has everything from IMAX to supermarket in 5 stories. There is also a great little inexpensive early morning restaurant out the front door from Starbucks in the corner off the mall and down the little alley behind the parking lot across from Starbucks. For short term stays the Haitao Hotel where I will be from Dec 8th until 20th which is the closest Hotel (a 5 minute walk)to Shekou Port straight out front and right at first corner, also near Sea World Plaza which has many restaurants. Haitao Hotel also includes a great breakfast selection as part of room rent. The Metro also goes to Shenzhen airport which has inexpensive airfare all over China on Excellent airplanes.

Hello welcome to China. Christmas is not a holiday in China, but nowadays in big cities like Shanghai, Beijing, there will be some celebrations. I am in Shanghai, so if you come for a visit, you may go to Nanjing Road, Waihai Road, and some big shopping malls in Pudong. You will enjoy a nice Christmas holiday here.
