Hi,

My wife and I will move to Shanghai (from the UK) in April-2016. Should I start contacting real estate agents now? Also, what is the process? I will likely go for a modern 3BR furnished apartment or villa. What should I plan as a budget?

You should plan as early as you can, it is not easy to find a house in big cities like Shanghai; you can find the real estate agencies, but they usually charge you a lot, so you can search for Chinese real estate websites and use YesPo for translation if you do not know Chinese. I use this translation and interpretation app a lot; it got professional human translators and I am sure it will be very helpful for you after you move to China.
