Senior care facilities in Bogota

My wife's mother, who lives in Bogota, will need to move soon from her Estrato 3 third floor apartment to a senior care living facility similar in the U.S. to a continuing care retirement community or assisted living. Does anyone know of quality senior care facilities (Geriatricos) in the Bogota metro area?

Did you ever find such a facility in Bogota or elsewhere in Columbia?

Senior care Facilies or as they call them here in colombia Casas para tercera edad or Hogares para abuelos are way way overpriced. Here in Medellin I was looking for one for my aunt. I looked at the cheapest to the most expensive. cheapest was $750 and you have to have your own eps and emi .emi is a monthly plan for emergency call and costs between 39 mil to 50mil pesos. the place looked like a run down place .It is an old house with no patio no terrace no nothing. Older people sitting and looking depressed as if they waiting for final day of rest.did not like it at all.And the room for 750 has to be shared with another person. Independent room not that great either is like a hole in wall cost ?1000,000 pesos. It has nothing but a bed.you have to bring your own closet and tv if you want one.

the upper middle class one cost 2,500,000 it was much better and the folks looked happier.Same conditions like the first you have to have your eps and emi. Rooms are better it has a patio ,looked clean and spacious but way overpriced.

The third which is upper class located in Poblado estrato 6 cost over 7 million pesos a month didn't even look at it beyond my aunt's budget.
by the way the first was in Centro near clinica rosario medellin. The second was in Laureles and the third in Poblado.

Overpriced?

Compared to what?

My father (1921-2016) spent his final two years in a nursing home in California at a monthly cost of $10,000 US per month.

The "upper-middle-class" Laureles facility is a bargain compared to 10K a month. It's $834 per month based on today's exchange rate of 1 USD = 2,998 COP.

What's the name of that facility in Laureles, tryagain?

if you live in Colombia I am surprised at your answer knowing that the majority of population earn the minimum wage and you are quick to compare Dollars to pesos since I never mentioned Dollars. But anyway, here is the address of the Laureles.
Hogar el Jardin de los Abuelos
Calle 32 E # 76-116 Barrio Laureles Los Almendros.

Thank you for supplying the Laureles inforrmation.

This is an Expat forum read mostly by North American Expats and potential Expats. So I don't need to explain the importance of converting between pesos and dollars on this thread.

The relevant standard for Expats' comparisons in cost-of-living matters is not the minimum salary of low-skilled Colombian workers.

As for tryagain's claim of never mentioning dollars, I assert that tryagain twice referred to a facility that supposedly was charging "$750."

Was that not a clear reference to a monthly charge in U.S. dollars?

A Colombian newspaper display ad will often quote $750 for one item and USD750 for another. I believe it indicates a difference.

I have come to the tentative conclusion that the $ sign is occasionally used in Colombia because there does not seem to be a symbol for COL peso. But in such cases I believe the large numbers are retained. I we had Pi on our keyboards maybe we could start a convention . . . .
