Oh my gosh, you must have been reading my mind. I'm also in need of a good, strong, male massage therapist. Female are almost always too weak for me. If anyone could recommend one anywhere from the Candelaria up to about Calle 57, please let me know. . .Also can you tell me about how much massages cost here? I used to pay $15/hour in Ecuador. Thanks!

Well, in my 10 years of visiting Bogota with my wife, I have yet to find anyone that can come close to massage *therapy* as practiced in Europe and the States - massage training is included in their skin care programs, the result being that virtually all *therapists* are young and female (it also seems to be the rule that they are all really cute); this suits the clients with the predominant homophobic (Hispanic) male personality, but means that the best therapists - men - are not available.

I went to Club Largata - an old and large country club - and was treated to an oily rub-down (from a tiny, cutesy, untrained female) that never really touched any muscle fibers - just rubbed oil around on my skin; another time, my wife took me to her esthetician, who assured me that she was *strong* - wrong...very caring, very gentle, rather ineffective; then, last month, we went to a spa - I think in the barrio referred to as "Country." The young girl was very sweet, and clearly attempted to follow a routine, but was the most petite girl in the spa...this, after I specified on the phone that, in the absence of a male therapist, I needed a big, strong female; I reiterated this when we signed in and paid, and stated so again to the spa supervisor when we changed clothes - and was assured each time *no preocupes* - I suppose it was my greedy karma that I got the tiniest employee they had.

Anyway, I would also love to hear of skilled therapist in Bogota. Good luck with the hunt.

After living on the coast several years and always looking for a good massage, the best masajista are big black women who have been doing this for several years. They have powerfully hands and are very sturdy.

They tend to be experts in relieving all types of physical pains and gentle when needed.

I am a little curious about something. When the ladies have a full body massage from a male masseuse, do they usually end on a happy note. I have always wondered about that.
