Hello,
It's great you're considering moving to Colombia. For that same money you are paying monthly or even less you can consider buying an apartment, which you can pay in 10 to 15 years. Sadly, real estate loans are practically non existent here for foreigners. Using other people's money (OPM) to purchase property or leveraging your money is a way of life for real estate investors. As for real estate buyers like myself, when loans are non existent you have to look at other ways to even purchase properties. Renting with an unknown future here in Colombia is a good option if you are not sure about moving here permanently or would like the ease of transitioning between locations and having to deal with selling properties. However, if you know of companies and / or banks that have capital to loan to extranjeros please let the forum know.
