how to become a Colombian citizen?

I want to move from the U.S. after i get out of the military, I have over $100,000(USD) saved up. I want to move to Bogota because I see tremendous opportunity there. I just wan to know how to do it, do I need to find someone who lives their that I am absolutely crazy in love with? Or can i get a permanent residency Visa? I want to buy properties and become a developer of sustainable housing and agriculture. Just looking to find out what other people have done. Also my job in the military is a firefighter, so if i wanted to do they have fire departments down there?

Tye, very easy to get a visa and live in Colombia. Your military pension will qualify you.

No reason to become a citizen, there is no up side.

Colombia right now can be a gold mine if you know what you are doing.Lots and lots of opportunities.

$100,000 is not enough to do anything though. Epically in Bogota. If you have half a million, there are some places you can start, just not in Bogota.

Good luck, Martin

Whatever you do, stay away from any locals that want to venture with you. You will need more capital than that to go into the real estate business. I would say over a million or so. But that's just me.

Sadly, Colombia suffers from age discrimination and so it is virtually impossible to get employment after 30, 40, etc....

By the way, don't tell any females here about your 100k.

As previously mentioned, your pension will get you a visa here. Just translate the docs and have them apostillized before coming down.

Welcome to Colombia.

Dandrie is right, Bang the nice pisas, eat the bandeja, drink the rum, dance some salsa but do not buy anything or invest 1 penny untill you have lived bere 2 years. Most gringos dont even make it that long.

This place is not for the weak or feeble and they do not coddle you here.

Are you a serious poster, or just new to this?

The internet is your friend, and my advice is to use it. There is plenty of info on just what you say you are looking for.
Not very smart of you to be flashing $ on the internet and even worse saying you are asking for advice from anonymous people.

With all due respects, I question your intentions. In other words, think you may be phony, and if you are not, welcome!
PS you need to speak Espanol to do business here or you will be raped, business-wise that is of course.
