Hello kids-

Looking into the possibility of moving to la costa. My DH and I can work remotely and so job market isn't a need. We're looking at quality of life, security, internet reliability, and to a certain extent, budget.

We just want to live sabroso y tranquilo. Any feedback or experience on living in the coast is welcome!!

Greetings from Key West. Barranquilla and Santa Marta are excellent choices. Although Santa Marta is the best kept secret.. Best to take a week or two to check it out. Barranquilla
is a large very busy seaport city. Santa Marta has some beautiful beaches, National Park along the coast, and the highest coastal mountain range in the world. I spent a large portion of November and December in Santa Marta with plans on retiring there in the near future. The Caribbean Coast of Colombia rocks!

FYI, Santa Marta has been experiencing a water crisis - I am aware that the some buildings in the tourist area of Rodadero along the beach haven't had water service for a quite while.

That is incredibly shocking and sad to hear. In a tropical environment like the Costa something like this unfortunately can cascade quickly into something very unpleasant,
Hope things change soon or God forbid they put a moratorium on new construction.
