hello everyone-
Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself on this forum. I have been living in el Cauca - or Caukanistan as we call it these days - for five or six years now. I came here to recover from an illness, and have been making progress with that. I do love the country and the people, and am almost always happy to be here. I didn´t speak two words of Spanish when I came, but now it is not so bad, I can mainly keep up! Learning to sing, and singing a lot of songs in Spanish really helped me with language acquisition -a Good Thing because nobody speaks ingles here ever. This is sort of a hot spot for the war apparently - I keep my head down and focused on my life. I was a choreographer/director/teacher in NYC for 25 years before I came here. El Cauca is gorgeous, climate is perfect, and the capital city of Popayán is lovely. I am toying with the idea of moving to Cali. Does anyone have ideas about the best way to get books in English? Also I notiice lots of info about dating Colombian women, but didn´t notice anything for us ex-pat ladies, although this country has romance aplenty.... Anyway, greetinngs to all, have a lovely day, and look forward to getting to know some of you on this forum.
