I was reading about VCRs and VPNs and someone mentioned Netflix. I tried to get on my site here in Las Vegas, NV to see if I could transfer or change my service when I moved to Medellin. The only reply I could get was "Would you like to add more channels, etc."

Can you tell me if they have Netflix in Colombia (hopefully with English language movies) or a similar service? If they do, do you know how to sign up for it?

You don't know ANYONE in the US that could set up a Netflix account for you and you could send them a check every month? Make this as easy for yourself as possible.

I have an account here in Las Vegas, and I think I could use my mail forwarding address to continue it. But, how would I view it in Colombia?

Andresen

With your laptop, wifi, and logging into your account. I do it all the time.

You can always cancel your subscription in the USA and re-subscribe in Colombia. You don't get all of the same movies but it's cheaper--about $6 US a month for one device.

All of the American movies you will be able to have English audio.

Sorry, but not today and probably not ever. Physical address does not matter. Theses services tracking you on the internet even with a VPN somehow because the VPN does not hide you anymore.

The “not today .. not ever” comment notwithstanding... the answer is:

Dial up netflix.com from any wi-fi enabled venue in Colombia .. and you can get the service.

Sorry but people here in Panama say they cannot get Netflix because they changed the rules and VPN doesn't help to get it here.

Netflix does stop VPN users. It does so by blacklisting the IP blocks owned by the known VPN providers. It does not do it or cannot do it based on the type of packets.

The best way to get netflix USA is to setup your own private VPN. You can use cloud service like Amazon AWS to set up the server. However, it does require a bit of technical knowledge.

If you don't want to go cloud, you can use any old laptop or raspberry pi running linux and openvpn at one of your relative house. This solution does require dynamic DNS service (can be obtained for free). With this solution, you will be, from a Netflix point of view, as if you were streaming from your relative house.

Yes, Steve S., I get USA programs from about 20 channels with DVR programing-recording capability .. through my subscription at ustvnow.com ....

This includes all the NFL Sunday night, Monday night and Thursday night games -- in English -- whereas my former DirecTV subscription was bringing me those games without English commentary.

Selected Sunday afternoon games are also shown. I have an NFL Gamepass subscription which covers me for all games in English.

Ustvnow.com is not a cheap service for someone like me who wants the extra channels and the DVR recording with recurring recording of favorite programs.

However, it is much less expensive than what I was paying with DirecTV, especially since I paid for NFL Sunday Ticket in the earlier subscription.

You can get a free trial subscription at ustvnow.com and then decide one month in what, if any, special features to order .. or you can cancel after the month. It’s up to you.

I don't use a VPN. I use GETFLIX and used it for years. I'm watching it right now. I watch it all the time. I watch House, Walking Dead, comedies etc. If I don't use Getflix, I can't revive my US Channels. On top of that I can get my USA Cable channels, my PRIME US based channels and more.

I can tell you our Kodi users say that the Free Live TV streaming it can provide is better than US TV NOW and it is free. If you want to see it in action we can do a demo for you to see live in action when you want.

Good day: I just brought from USA a "fire TVstick". Anybody knows if it works here in Medellin?

WhoaNellie
  1/23/2017 13:17 EST

suadel, yes and no. It looks like it might be possible if you can hide your IP address, but if not, it depends on the country:

Before anybody wants a demonstration of “Kodi,” they would like to know: in what ways is Kodi supposedly better than ustvnow.com ?

Does it have programable recording with one-time-setup recurring-record function as ustvnow.com does?

What feature(s) does Kodi have that ustvnow.com does not?

Well, for one thing, Kodi is FREE ja ja...

I have just "cut the cable" here in the States so I am still learning the ropes.

I have Amazon voice Fire TV Sticks as well as the older Fire TV Sticks, and supplement the Amazon content which is extensive with Kodi and its add-ons, and I also have a subscription to Playstation Vue (which does not require a Playstation) which also provides live TV as well as other offerings on-demand and many recorded channels and shows available.

There are so many free add-ons for both including Spanish language and just about any language you want as well as English, that along with the free local on-air channels I am not missing my cable TV one little bit. Sometimes it gets a bit complicated installing things but there is a wealth of step-by-step instruction available on the internet.

It's only going to get better from here on out, too, in my opinion. If you have stock in companies whose main or only business is cable TV, I'd start looking to sell!

It does, if you use the right VPN. They should own their own servers, in every country. Some companies call them self VPN all they do is use servers from other sources. goldenfrog in germany owns there servers, There server is located in bogota.

thepiratebay dot something is your friend. Currently, the domain name --what follows the dot and is often com. -- is .wf. It changes. Download at will. Hundreds of thousands of films, TV shows, etc.

I bought a private VPN which is a dedicated IP for access to my hulu and netflix accounts in the US. I think it's about 8 bucks a month. I also use it for my banking in the US. Anyway, Netlfix and Hulu will block VPNs that use shared IPs. Shared IPs can easily be detected since the same IP is used by hundreds of people, so they will shut down access. The best way is to simply buy a dedicated (private) IP. I use Torguard and never had a problem. I can access shows just like I was sitting in the US. All you have to do is subscribe to a VPN service that offers a dedicated IP option. Install their app on your laptop, sign in and your done... log into netflix, hulu... easy peasy.

Sign of VPN and you get netflix all day, with US address.

lagocalima

Do not waste your money on Golden Frog. Every time I sign in to netflix I have to disable golden frog. Otherwise I am not able to use my US based netflix account. I just signed in to check my yearly credit report, the website knew instantly that I was not in the country, even with golden frog VPN
