admin...it is the country of Colombia...not the United States. Very few "traditional t'giving meals are available"...but there are some, possibly somewhere. In an expat-haven, like Boquete, Panama or Cuenca, Ec. one can find those t'giving meals...as there are gazillions of americanos there. Colombia is not a country in which "expat havens" exist...Gracias a Diós. Buena Suerte ! Tranquilo.

Hahaha. Come on, now Skyman. Surely Medellin qualifies? There's hundreds of them.
Its like in my small town on the coast of Cornwall, back in England, if there's 2 cars waiting at the lights, its a traffic jam, hahaha

LaPiranha....Medellin is a city of 3 million+...with maybe 7,500 expats...so it is not a "haven" for expats...so no...really...there are not many restaurants that serve a gringo-americano t'giving type of meal. I lived in Cuenca, Ec.(a city of 400,000 w/10,000 gringo expats) & yes...I could find a meal of turkey/dressing/etc . on t'giving...but the reality is this...there are no real "concentrations" of gringos in Medellin...there are more in Poblado=yes...but no "gringo havens" in Colombia...that I have found...since living here. I really do not understand the nature of your post...but it is immaterial in the entire scheme of things...period. Buena Suerte ! Tranquilo.

The fact that there are not a lot of Americano here is why I moved here. The slower, easier lifestyle, less rush, etc. appealed to me. If I had wanted to meet more Americans, I would have moved to Seattle.
Do Thanksgiving your own style.

My local chapter (Bogotá) of Internations has just posted that the English Speaking group is having a big Thanksgiving dinner.
I know Medellin has an Internations chapter so, if you are a member, you might look there for a Thanksgiving gathering.
Annual membership is really cheap

Lee...that is a good point...personally I prefer to spend time with my Colombian friends....and of course the slower pace of life(well...not while driving in Medellin)...of course. I could have stayed in the states,,,if I wanted hablar ingles daily. Hablo español...so I do not have any "communications barriers". Buena Suerte ! Tranquilo.

Hello Adminee,
Last evening I learned that El Viejo y El Pancake just yesterday confirmed that they are going to offer a traditional Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving day. (Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy.) They will continue serving 'til the food runs out.
They have a FaceBook page for those who need directions or want to contact them.

Never really liked turkey anyway. been 8 yrs and havent missed it. Feel sorry for those who miss the festivities however, you are HERE, not THERE. Enjoy Sancocho, have some wine, and you can still catch some football...

When I arrived in Colombia years ago, I introduced the Colombian family to turkey and Thanksgiving. They love it now. They want Thanksgiving at least 4 times a year. Only issue I ran into was searching for sweet potatoes. I used patata .. Everything else was workable..

My gf and i had Thanksgiving lunch at El Viejo y El Pancake yesterday. Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, fruit salad and choice of drink for 40mil. Delicious. My gf liked it so much she wanted more. Next year we will probably have lunch again there and have dinner at Osea. lol.

Just prepared a Thanksgiving meal. Green been casserole, broccoli casserole, squash casserole, cornbread stuffing, baked beans, ham cooked in Kahlue, turkey, mashed potatoes, honey mustard chicken, pumpkin pie and apple cobbler. Been a long day cooking, but tomorrow will be my wife's first Thanksgiving meal here in Colombia. Hopefully, they will enjoy the American type cooking.

As a fairly new single newcomer to Medellin, I signed up for the T Day dinner at the Horny American. It was really good food. Things I wouldn't normally make for myself, like stuffing and gravy..
However, being single, it was unfortunately for me like going to a greasy spoon. Pay your money, get your food, get up and leave. I didn't see or feel much connectivity. But I guess I shouldn't have because I went there for the food.
Perhaps, next year I'll have a friend I can go with. Sigh!

LaPiranha, I hear you. Yesterday, after eating, the family got out the weigh scales. The outcome of the weight showed that it's time to go on a diet.

Hahaha. But did you read what Calle2will's menu was? I think I would have been full after trying the 3 casseroles, and would never even make it to the turkey. I must have put on a few pounds just by reading the menu, haha.
But seriously, many guys are attracted to the slimline girls here. And for some, its even the reason they come here in the first place. But many Colombian girls who I have known, get used to the "Western" diet, and quickly pile on the pounds. No, I say starve them, Keep them skinny, lol.
