nudist living in Costa Rica

My family is seriously considering on moving to Costa Rica in the near future, and we are "summer nudist" by our pool, but my wife has stated she would really like to live as "year round" nudist. We have considered the potential cost and health benefits of living "natural" less heating and cooling cost, less wear and tear on clothing, less laundry, less water for laundry, etc. but our concern is since CR is a primarily catholic country, would we be offensive to neighbors, domestic help, etc.? We are not exhibitionist, but we are also not closet nudist. We do not hide or are embarrassed about our nude lifestyle, but do understand other's may be. we do not plan on living in a condo, but a single family residence and would prefer vegetation for privacy from neighbors who may be offended. So if there are any people with personal experience not just developers trying to sell their development we do appreciate all constructive information.

Hello, we are nudists in Florida and am looking for a place to purchase or rent to where we can live as nudist. Have you found any such places? We live in a clothing neighborhood with privacy fencing around our pool where we go nude and inside our house with windows tinted or closed.

I think that your neighbors would be calling the police!-Honestly!
Unless you are on a desert island by yourselves!

Thanks, could we put up a privacy fence like we have here in Fl?

Depends on where you have chosen to live.

That would be your job to search out...

I think you could get away with it if you lived somewhere where you can have 1+ acres to yourself PLUS a huge fence, but those types of areas are either pricey or can be difficult to live in (unreliable internet, no nearby shops, etc). I think the bigger issue would be finding staff to work in your home if you need any. I'd be prepared to pay more.

Even if you have a fence if you live beside a complex with 2 stories the people living upstairs can still see you.

Also: I don't think the cleaning ladies would feel comfortable in such environment.
Out of curiosity I will ask those I know.

One of the many homes here with 8-10ft high cement walls and barbed wire on top may suit you...lots of them all around the country.

I just asked 3 people if they would feel comfortable working for people who like to walk around naked.
Since they don't speak English I said "desnudos".
One was our gardener, the other one was the cleaning lady who works in our complex (common grounds) and the other one was a cleaning lady who cleans some apartments here.
I wish I had filmed their reaction!
They all laughed, and laughed and laughed!
So I said:"Oh, I'm glad this makes you happy because now I can tell them that I have 3 people willing to work for them".
They laughed even more!
Then the guy told me that last year there was a tourist lady topless at the beach.
Some people called the police and they told her that it was forbidden to
be topless.
One of the cleaning ladies also told me that she used to work for an elderly lady that owned a hotel in Tamarindo and sometimes she would get naked in front of her making her feel very uncomfortable.
My daughter is dealing with it right now. When she goes to the gym and she gets into the sauna, an elderly lady also joins her totally naked.
Now she is going to switch gyms.

playasdelcoco, why would your daughter switch gyms just because a woman comes into the sauna naked? (Unless it is a coed sauna.) It is very natural to be naked when using a sauna. My wife just went to a Korean spa (in the USA), and no clothing or covers were permitted in the spa area (all female).

Staff would be the biggest issue, of course. It's easier if they don't need any. However, money talks and I'm sure they could find the right person at the right price. That said, I do think it would be difficult to find someone who was truly OK with it and not just tolerating it for the money.

I also think being naked in saunas, locker rooms, etc is the 1 place where it's almost 100% accepted in the states. The only thing that would gross me out about that would be if someone didn't sit on a towel. GROSS.

I'm sure there must be some online groups for nudists? Maybe start there and see if there are any in CR?

I agree with my daughter.
I don't think it's hygienic,
Also: we shouldn't be forced to see other people's nakedness!
This reminds me of the Ebais: next time I go for a pap test I will take a towel with me to cover the spot where I'm going to lie down.
I couldn't believe that they use the same sheet for everyone!

We live in Grecia Alejuela. The temps are 62 to 82, and need no a/c or heat. Those who like cooler, have a house a little higher up the mountains.

We keep our clothes on.

Another reason to keep your clothes ON. We do not even live on the coast where there are more bugs. I have a horrible time sometimes with bug bites and have allergic reaction to some where they swell up a large area and itch like crazy. On and off feels like someone is poking me with a pin. Gets on fire when walking in the sun even with umbrella.
