Hi,

Can anyone recommend a realtor in the South Pacific region? We are looking in the corridor between Dominical and San Isidro, and in the San Isidro vicinity.

Thanks!

We have worked with him, his area is all of the south...he is amazing...saved us from a purchase where the title had issues.......he is honest, from new Zealand and has been in the area many years...we cannot recommend any better realtor..He pays attention to detail and has the buyers interest in mind...we bought a home with his assistance and we love him...he also recommended a fabulous lawyer in San Ysidro that attended to all our needs in the purchase...please give him a call.

While this is a lovely area, pay attention to the noise of the 'jake brakes' on trucks on this very busy mountain road, especially at night when the is really annoying, especially around Platanillo ... and remember, noise travels a far distance

Suggest you rent there first.

Do Jane & Darren have permanent legal residency free of any conditions, allowing them to work legally in Costa Rica?

carolvaughn

Jane Gregson has the right to work
in CR legally and runs a good and
fair real estate as well as tour company.
I don't know the other person, sorry.

Do these realtors deal in low end/price rentals as well? I've noticed some realtors seem to only deal with for sale and high end properties.

Higher priced rentals mean a bigger commission for the agent. Good places to look for rentals are on supermarket bulletin boards in the area that you are interested in. Sometimes the neighborhood 'pulperias' have flyers posted.

Darren has his residency and has been a successful realtor for several years.....he pays his taxes...etc.....he rocks...you should meet both realtors and sort out the one that you are most comfortable with....

Kohl

Most agents do not deal with rentals...especially low priced ones...unless they have rentals on their website and so will receive a commission nor will they be prepared to transport you around to check them out, as too many 'tourists' think this fills in some spare time. Sometimes, they may go with a client in the clients vehicle, or charge a fee for their time and gas.

I just read some of the info on that website. One comment I don't agree with is "... For $1,200 per month a retired couple can live very well" and maybe a few years ago, but not now. Further info. on the 'Lifestyle' paragraph, states that this info was written in 2009...

camaromom

Yes, the site articles have not been updated, nor has his Facebook page. But most of the realtors sites are not updated. I don't read their stuff anyway. :)

Kohl

Have you been in communication with him? Since he isn't updating his webpages, facebook and has had no testimonials since Jan 2013, it maybe no longer in business.
The road he mentions that they are going to start work on, was done years ago...

Yes - he is still operating and we have been communicating with him for a couple of months.

Due Diligence. When looking to buy a property or rent a house/apt. it is highly recommended to ask alot of questions. Realtor...ask to SEE their cedula. Lawyer...check with the Colegio de Abogados to see if they are registered and IF they have been suspended. Landlord...always get a written lease contract. Recently I checked a name with the Colegio de Abogados and the man who "called" himself a lawyer was not registered. A formal denuncia can be filed with the Ministerio Publico and the Colegio. Realtors? They are like mushrooms, coming & going. Can't count the number of times that I met a 'Realtor' and the person did not even have a business card.
