It is more expensive to live at almost any beach. You should visit prior to making any decision and check them out to see it it has what YOU need.

Costa Rica is a very beautiful, friendly, happy country and ILuvCR.BUT it is not a cheap place to live.

In fact while it has the highest standard of living in Central America it also has the highest cost of living.

One must visit often and for extended periods of time to determine if it's a place that they could live and or afford to live.

Pura Vida!

My gut and three years of living here tell me that one could live quite comfortably on $3k, get by on $2k and live like a rock star on $5k a month.

Just saying, right?

I live in Santa Domingo de Heredia in a gated comm unity with at least 2 other ex-pats close. I have a 4 bedroom 3 bath house that I rent for $900 per month, $100 electricity, $100 cable and internet, Food cost about $800 for a family of 4. Car expenses and other expenses about $500 per month. For $2500 per month you can live a very good lifestyle.
