Travel to Costa Rica this November

My wife and I are flying to Costa Rica this November to explore moving there, We are planning on spending several days in Manuel Antonio, Montezuma, Nosara and Flamingo. We are looking for places to stay and meet expats. Any advice would be welcome. We plan on taking buses/taxis everywhere, not rental car.

Here's a couple of nice places in Manuel Antonio:

Makanda by the Sea: http://www.makanda.com/

Hotel Mariposa:http://www.lamariposa.com/

I've stayed at booth, a nice bungalow at Makanda and more of a traditional hotel room at La Mariposa. Both are fantastic and very well maintained.

As far as meeting expats, most likely you'll end up meeting only tourists in M.A. as it's quite a small town. It's quaint and very clean & safe.

Sorry I can't give any other recommendations.

Try San Isidro Perez Zeledon. Large, clean, plus lesser expensive than many areas. 30 minutes to playa Domical.

Right Oh,

Plus PZ has a wonderful farmer's market, several okay restaurants,
a lovely Central Park with a Cathedral dedicated to farmers,
and we are close to MANY pocket
beaches, not just Dominical. We
have a Biological Center and the
wonderful Finca Baru is close by.
It's cooler here, in every sense.
Come visit us!

That sounds lovely. What is the name of your Pueblo?

I live in Quebradas, 10 minutes
outside if San Isidro, but that is just
a jumping off point for several little burgs, each with its own charm.
Well worth a visit and a little exploration. And you can explore
easily by bus.
Cost of living here seems less than
in other areas. I'm very biased!!!

I so concur Carole V. You are so kind! I cannot wait to get together with you all in the Q or SI!
want me to bring any seeds for veggies? Or edible flowers? This ia a true & honest offer! I don't believe asparagus will work so well & damn it's a lot of work to raise.
Carole, has anyone ever thought about purchasing a steer together & fattening it up (3 year olds are sooo choice) then butchering it then sharing? We could name him Fill... fill dat freezer? Filup, etc... lol Thus a farm, subsistence gal talks...

I will be renting a casita around 3100 feet above. I have lived on the beach in HI back in the day! I prefer cooler weather & day trips. My arrival this time will be mid September to mid October!
Raised in a low income & farming, homesteading, subsistence life! Then I became a po in hardcore urban areas. Ack! Lol pm me or carol Vaughn. She's there about 10 miles away from SI.
