The 5 Syrians who were arrested in Honduras today with false passports were in Costa Rica six days from November 11 to November 17, 2015, confirmed Migration.

The Men came from Peru, although it is presumed that they came from Argentina. Honduran officials did not confirm the intentions of these people or why they tried to cross from Lebanon to S.America. The Greek passports were stolen in Athens (Greece).

La Republica newspaper on Monday said the entry of Syrians with false passports is a sign of the country’s vulnerability and an armed conflict against the Islamic State will be felt in Costa Rica, especially with an increase in the budget for surveillance of the land border, maritime ports and airports. Visitors to Costa Rica since last Friday have experienced the effect of stricter migratory controls at the Juan Santamaria (San Jose-SJO) international airport, taking up to three, four, five times longer than usual as immigration officials double and triple check documents of those entering and leaving the country. Also the La Republica says Costa Rica could experience a reduced demand for its exports in several major markets. Tourism could also be affected, with concerns about air travel to destinations like Costa Rica. Residents could feel an emotional impact as well, as the Islamic State, the richest terrorist group in history, commits more acts of terror.

Can you say "over reaction"?

I have 0 concern with "Islamic terrorism" coming to Costa Rica!

Last time I checked Costa Rica had not invaded or bombed any of the Islamic countries or killed Islamic people from above with drones .

"Tourism could also be affected, with concerns about air travel to destinations like Costa Rica."

Really, I don't think so!

"Tourism: US travel warnings could be boon to Costa Rica tourism, experts say"

"Abarca said that Costa Rica is looking to have a strong high season with some parts of the country reporting 90+ percent occupancy.

Said Abarca: “The next three months look very good.”

Today the President of the Republic, Luis Guillermo Solis, in requiring a thorough investigation into what he called a "terrible mistake" of the immigration authorities of the country, to allow the entry and passage of five Syrian nationals with false passports.
Abarca, the National Tourism Chamber President…jeezus, what do you expect him to say, “Don’t come to Costa Rica.” Immediately after the 9/11 attacks, airlines worldwide experienced at least a 35% reduction in demand. In addition, after the attacks, a significant number of businesses temporarily suspended non-essential travel for their business employees. Not long after the 9/11 attacks, US Airways and United Airlines declared bankruptcy as a result of the massive financial loses due to lack of passenger demand
Can you say ‘intolerance?’ How about narrow-mindedness? What do you believe is right when it comes to identifying other people as SO wrong?

The first time I have ever agreed with MSNBC--and Chris Matthews--he pointed out why would we spend the money to bring so many males here--then send OUR young men over there to fight for THEIR country! Good Lord has common sense disappeared from the earth? Why not set up a safe city RIGHT WHERE they live. Could not be easier or more cost effective. But the liberal progressive agenda insists on sacrificing the safety of US citizens instead. Good Lord I hope we can make it a little more than a year before the disaster that is Obama leaves--unless he succeeds in letting a nuclear attack happen--

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Nine people have died in a shooting at a historic black church in Charleston, S.C., police said early Thursday morning.

5:38 a.m. EDT June 19, 2015

"I do believe this was a hate crime," Police Chief Gregory Mullen said.

Eight people died on the scene at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church and one person was pronounced dead at a hospital, Mullen said. The suspect, who remains on the loose, is a white male about 21 years old, officials said.

Virginia Tech , Sandy Hook, Columbine, Muslims? No crazy white people! It takes all kinds!

I can see why the liberals have the mind set--too much trouble to learn. The number of murders is easy to find and vary from 12 to 15 per day according to different sources. So I assume Chattanoga, Ford Hood and Boston rang a bell?? Unless we outright give up our US citizenship we need to vote and be responsible. Unless you have not noticed what happens in the US has ramifications worldwide. Nothing wrong with hiding your head in the sand of Costa Rica but then you have no right to share an uninformed opinion as we have enough of those going around!

Okay Gringo Amigos. What has been revealed in this rash of messages is we all see problems in the world and they are growing. Historian call it a war cycle.
Belligerency, antagonism, attitudes are evolving as part of this cycle. THis is happening at almost every country around the world at various levels.
Settle down and stop blaming. It does no good.Historians will analyse this out 20 years from now.
Right now is the time to look inward and know there is nothing you can do to correct or stop what is happening everywhere.
Where will you be five years from now and in what condition will you and your family be in. Will you be living, have you survived the worst? How? This should be our path to explore and study. Whether the enemy is Cubans or Mexicans or Arabs or the U.S. makes no difference. How are we protected. We cannot look to law enforcement or the military.THose are people and they need to eat as well as we do.

I understand someone may seem like a bigot when the basic tenets being discussed are not fully understood by both sides. Years ago--when dealing with many gringos relocating to Costa Rica I understood I needed to bone up on things as political discussions and the differences between the US and Costa Rica are regular topics for discussion. So, I am sure I am no smarter than most of the folks who post here but I will stand on my work of keeping abreast of what is important in civil matters and politics and history. Last week I read Ben Carsons " A More Perfect Union"--very good overview of the Constitution and what is wrong today. The week before I read "Unbroken"--forget the stupid movie, they --Angelina Jolie--is so liberal she left out the MOST important aspect. That the Billy Graham Crusade totally changed his life after the war and torture. And what a shame that what these guys fought and got tortured for has been flushed down the commode! Am now reading "Reagan's Secret War"--about his desire to eliminate nuclear weapons from the Earth. And before that---studied--Adams, Jefferson, Washington, Franklin, LIncoln et al. And one of the driest but most important reads was
"The Making of America" a study of the Constitution and all the discussion behind the making of the document. So--I am not bigoted--I have taken the time and effort to understand what the US forefathers struggled and fought for and what the Constitution actually means. And Obama and his acolytes are either ignorant of the facts or choose to be narcissistic loons who want to make themselves feel better by spreading butterflies, rainbows and unicorns as opposed to doing their civil duty and protect the USA and what it USED to stand for. The saddest fact of all is that here in Costa Rica they follow the US lead right on down the garden path! I hope the system works and we rid ourselves of the lunatic fringe that has hijacked the US government! Of course anyone who would care to discuss or debate facts---as much as you feel like calling people a putz and what they say is bs are intelligent rebukes---they just show ignorance. And trust me---I really don't expect anything intelligent bouncing back so let er rip and prove the point!

I applaud your willingness to read good literature and learn from it. More people should do that. The world would be a much better and safer place if people would take the time to improve their knowledge of what they are talking about.
But I have met many well educated and intelligent people that for some reason don't incorporate that knowledge into their views of current events,
Besides, being well educated doesn't always equate to someone's intelligence. There are many other factors to be considered.
People can be college educated, but can be real idiots. I've also met people that never walked on a college campus that are very intelligent.
Your previous post was full of bigotry, plain and simple.
PS. If you are so well informed on the background and true meaning of the Constitution, than you must be very upset over how people are misunderstanding the true intent of the 2nd Amendment. Right?

What amazes me most is the level of intelligence of our forefathers as evidenced by their vocabulary and thought process. They were very serious in laying out the Constitution the way they did and when you compare the average knowledge of today's citizens it is beyond pitiful. The knowledge of our founding and the basic total destruction of all that has been held important is disgraceful. The Obama administration and the ignorant people who actually voted him in the second time??? Beyond belief---anyone who has studied our history cannot possible agree with the state of affairs today. Oh well--it was obvious at the second coming that a very deep divide has happened in the US --one who's ramification will last a long time and very possibly sink the US. No different then Rome---go ahead and study that one--that is unless the Kardashians are on.

If you're up on history, than you know that deep divide started way before O'Bama was elected and will continue long after he is gone.
The problem is people don't want to look at the real issues that caused this divide in the first place.
Furguson and other terrible events didn't happen just because O'Bama is the President.
Blaming the current administration as a scapegoat is just an easy way to bury your head in the same.

Terrible events will always happen regardless of who is President--the wholesale slaughter of our Founders true intent for the USA is what I am talking about. Second amendment---could not be simpler, ALL citizens are granted the RIGHT to arm themselves to defend against invaders--and that includes our own out of control government. The USA is no longer the leader of the free world and it's current idiocy spreads to innocent victims like Costa Rica! That is what I hate the most---I miss the days when Costa Rica was simpler and they looked up to a sane USA. Now rainbow flags and abortions are important and that is sad.

BTW; where does it say in the reasons for the 2nd Amendment that we have the right to bear arms against invaders? Couldn't find it. It just says against intrusions of the standing federal army. Just sounds like your interpretation of the Constitution. That's why the Constitution has little meaning today. People will distort it to suit their beliefs. Armed people standing across the street from a masque is not a militia defending itself from a standing army, but they probably don't care.

If you study the debate, disussion and intent of the Second Amendment, you will find a difference in what they meant by "Militia" and "Select Militia". The Constitutional Militia can be called forth "to execute the laws of the Union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions" And if you read Richard Henry Lee's "Letters from the Federal Farmer to the Republican" you will see he was making sure we could protect ourselves as individuals--and that meant either FROM the "select militia" or to work in tandem with them to ward off invasion. The war of 1812 then highlighted the fact that a more professional force of regular military was going to be needed to insure our freedom into the future. So--as to your assertion that it was my "interpretation" is not correct but rather my comments are based on the actual notes taken during the Constitutional Convention. You have to delve much deeper than just reading the 2nd Amendment and flesh out the whole intent. Without that bit of interest and work I don't think any of us have a right to think we know it all. And the saddest of all is Obama is supposedly a Constitutional Scholar? Yeah right---if so all the more treasonous.

Thanks and I stand corrected, but you are broadening the intent of the 2nd Amendment beyond what is actually stated in the 2nd Amendment as it is written. The intent of the 2nd Amendment as stated is referring to the right of the states to protect itself from military interferences from the Federal Government. Nothing more. All the debates and documents written prior to the writing of the 2nd Amendment resulted in how it was eventually written.
As a person knowledgable in the history of the Constitution, you then you must agree with me that people are using the 2nd Amendment in a way that it was not intended to be, ie standing armed across the street of a mosque. You must also agree that Trump's idea of registering all Muslims is unconstitutional.

Three days ago we were cutting grass with machetes on our pasture and came across three Fer De Lance.Ticos call them Terciopelos or Cobres. This snake comes with a reputation.Ticos call it a five stepper. You get bit, walk five steps and you're dead. I walk my farm and have learned what to look for and what to do if I see a Cobre. Am I worried or afraid? Of course not.Ticos showed me how to protect myself and kill them. And ,yes all three snakes are dead.

Richard, CR isn't important, is big country, have natural commodities, or engaged in wars, enough to be a good target. 80% Christian is fine but not a true threat to the I terrorists. I won't write or say the terrorist's name as they achieve more power by recognition.
The USA, France, Germany, Britain, Russia, entire Middle East, & any country who agrees w/ UN or NATO are in the cross hair.
I am sure that the 6-7 days the members of "I" spent in CR were just a resting place before the recent attacks.
So many war criminals have used South American countries as "safe places." Thus escaping prosecution, jail/prison, & justice for acts against humanity. The USA, Canada, France, Germany, & other countries have allowed many people with false passports & green cards/cedulas into their country.
Not disagreeing per say Richard just adding a few observations that I have seen over the past 38 years. I worked a lot with INS' of the USA, Vietnam, Mexico, & Honduras (& too many others to mention) about deporting violent criminals.
Hope to see ya soon!

Statistical analysis shows Honduras is the, per demographics, murder capital of the world! 12 people murdered a day in CR? I think not.
Another interesting bit of info is that 116,000 people immigrate, legally & not, to the USA annually. About 30k move to CR from North America & Europe. If one needs to immigrant to the USA, as I have said before, the background checks are horrendously intense. The
Enough about this.

The borders are so porous, the Govt. better wake up and smell the coffee. December 7th, 2015 (ICR News) Police officers in southern Costa Rica detained 17 undocumented migrants from Nepal and Bangladesh Sunday afternoon. The migrants, five who claim to be from Bangladesh and 12 from Nepal, were discovered hiding in an abandoned and dilapidated home near Guaycara in Golfito after an anonymous tip. All of the migrants were reported to be in good health. Police said that none of the migrants carried any identification. They are believed to have been en route to the United States.

I just have to say to I luv cr, you should maybe go back and read your posts on this subject. You are such a typical left-wing apologist / fact interpreter! Contrary to what usama obama and the N.Y. times would love for you to believe, people sneaking into a country is bad and nothing good will come from it, ESPECIALLY NOW! And just because they happened to catch these goofs, in your mind that means they get everyone? I know people of your ilk don't like facts to get in the way of a good narrative, but there really are BAD people out there, now more than ever! You spew some of the most dangerous, naive thoughts this side of of our muslim king himself. My God, how in this world can you still be so naive!? Do you honestly believe because we're in Costa Rica or any country that nothing bad is going to happen because obama and hillary keep smiling? You are the classic frog in boiling water. Just keep your head comfortably in the nice warm sand.

Hey, ILuvCR, tell the good folks in San Bernadino again how safe it is to let refugees in the country and how taking guns away from LAWFUL CITIZENS and making them defenseless is going to stop all of this. Not ANY ONE 0f the laws proposed by the great one Sunday could have or would have stopped what happened in California. What's next, he's going to make them promise to be good or else he'll take away some of the benefits we worked our life for but he just gives them? And in your world I suppose those two savages were the only ones that snuck in? Coom-by-ah!

marty, your logic is just pathetic. The two murderers were legal citizens and their guns were bought legally. The guns at Sandy Hook, the college that was shot up in Washington, the Virginia Tech masaquere, the women's health clinic, Colombine, etc. were all bought legally. The USA has plenty of it's own home grown nut bags to deal with. But I guess they don't count because they weren't Muslim. ANYBODY can get as many assault weapons at any gun fair with no background check, but that's probably ok with you cause at least our 2nd Amendment rights are protected. The USA has the most well armed citizens in the world, but this stuff keeps happening anyway. But the ignorants keep saying we need MORE Guns. Yep, that should do it. And people on this forum want to bring the American gun culture to Panama, like it's really working out so well in the states. And calling someone a liberal isn't helping. It's just a punch line for ignorant people to think they have actually said something smart. What a joke.

I agree---I am doing my job and informing people of the reality of life in Costa Rica. Real Estate in Costa Rica is about 95% internet related so paying for and commenting on these forums IS my job and not a waste of time! Certainly not when you know how many sales I have made through the use of informing people on these forums! The quality of life is great in Costa Rica and I am glad to see the country actually cares about its immigration policies and for anyone to say it is not a topic of importance for any country really does not have a clue. Of course it is great to supply info on pets and homes and land etc. but life in Costa Rica is not one dimensional. And this is the problem with liberal thought--any time the reality of their actions is pointed out they can't intelligently discuss the issue the just call you names. Has anyone been able to tell me that according to the forums own words on what it's purpose is---- that politics and law in Costa Rica is not an important aspect of the quality of life here? Of course not--

I'm not weighing in here on one side or the other but as a certified and institutionally and experienced Histori0grapher (1. (Historical Terms) a historian, esp. one concerned with historical method and the writings of other historians) and one who has extensively studies Early Roman Govt, Dark Ages, U.S Revolutionary War to the Antebellum Period and U.S. Govt extensively from 1900-Present I find it intriguing that the level of anger at each other for thinking differently is a reflection of our Congress and House and current President. I even have to referee our family gatherings at times and get both sides to look at "their" point of view and l0gically explain why it is right. If they cannot do that then their hypothesis or stance is weakened or lost altogether. There is nothing wrong with reading material and trying to keep yourself abreast of what is going on but just like all history books, they are usually written with a slant or bias. It behooves the reader to understand the view of author. Are they Modernist or Post Modernist or Constructionist or Deconstructionists etc., etc. News pundants, TV, and newspapers or periodicals are no different. with all that said what is going on now or in the last 3-4 years is nothing but a microscopic spec in the river of history. Oh I know, it seems like it is this huge insurmountable thing that is taking us over and or threatening our existence and even though it seems huge it is again, just a spec Historically speaking. In 200 years it won't be much more than a page or two in a history book. So instead of calling each other names and getting upset, why don't you meet at the local pub and have a brew and for sanity's sake...don't talk politics! You might find you actually like each other.

You are very correct! There's much more to the constitution than just what we can see. The intention is what has been bastardized mostly in 20th and 21st century. Good job on the definitions! Hillsboro College, a Constitutional College has free courses to those that care to indulge themselves in the true meaning of the Constitution. Course Description:

Introduction to the fundamentals of the Spanish language integrating culture throughout the course. The course focuses on basic vocabulary to be used in basic conversation.

Course Objectives:

The student will learn to use basic vocabulary to read, write, speak, and comprehend basic Spanish at the beginner's level. The emphasis of the course is placed on conversation. https://secure.hillsdale.edu/activate-your-constitution-101-course/?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=con101
Hillsdale College was founded in 1844 by men and women who proclaimed themselves “grateful to God for the inestimable blessings resulting from the prevalence of civil and religious liberty and intelligent piety in the land,” and who believed that “the diffusion of sound learning is essential to the perpetuity of these blessings.”

Hillsdale was the first American college to prohibit in its charter any discrimination based on race, sex, or national origin. Associated with the anti-slavery movement from its earliest days, it attracted to its campus anti-slavery leaders such as Frederick Douglass and Edward Everett, who preceded Abraham Lincoln at Gettysburg.
At the bottom of the link you can read what the College stands for. I think it's something we can ALL agree on!

So according to your logic, someone kills another person with a steak knife, we collect them all and make them illegal? A drunk driver kills you so that means we turn in our keys and/ or all alchahol? You are such an obvious idiot. Guns, cars, knives, sharp sticks in the wrong hands will always cause problems. It's always the uni-informed drive-by media watchers such as yourself that cofuse facts with fiction. Have you ever even tried to buy a firearm? THERE ARE ALREADY EXTENSIVE BACKGROUND CHECKS! The problem isn't the law-abiding person who buys them legally and learns how to use them along with the consequences of firing one. The problem is all the left-leaning judges that refuse to incarcerate all of the thugs doing all the killing. Who has stricter gun control laws than California, Chicago, New York, etc. but that's where the majority of problem are. ALL of their jails have revolving doors. If you and Luv cr feel better and safer pretending everyone loves you and nobody would ever do anything bad to you or your loved ones, try living in places like Milwaukee (again, democrat gun-hating mayor) where they AVERAGE 6 car jackings a day! Honestly, do you goose-steppers really think that you're smarter than our founding fathers that knew a strong citizenry would deter not only foreign agression but internal agression and treason as well? You people better darn well wake-up before it's too late because making a country and it's citizens weaker doesn't make a country stronger!

Not sure who you're calling an idiot but slander not withstanding I agree with you....sharp sticks, guns, etc. will always find their way into hands of despicable people and I also agree that those geographical areas you named as well as many others have hash gun owner restrictions and the result is the old adage "take guns from good people and only bad people will have them" The apparent "stupid disease" has gone viral for some years now but the actions or "inactions" and obvious void between the ears of those in charge from local to our national leaders have created this mess. I do own several guns and went through a paperwork nightmare to have them. I had a top secret security clearance in the military and didn't go thru that much grilling. Again I say, what is happening now in our lifetime is just a spec in the big picture of history. In 100 years this will be a couple of paragraphs at best in the history books. It is just huge to us because we are living it.

I'm of course referring to that typical lefty, opinions based on no real facts, hair-on-fire ILuvcr. IShe's just so typical. She has no time for anyone else's thoughts, especially when they're fact-based. Just nasty comments. That's the "tolerant" left for you - agree with me or shut up! That's because they have no honest, fact-based rebuttal, all they ever have is their tired, old talking points. Look what happens whenever there's yet another shooting in the inner city. The lefties can't get in front of a camera fast enough to propose even more gun laws. My God, there are more gun laws than we'd ever need now but it's easier to feign indignation and propose more laws then it is to do the dirty work - identify the habitual criminals, find out where they got the gun from and have both serve the same sentence in its entirety. And three strikes and you're done mixing with society. And you're right, if things don't change for the better and fast, we're done as a society and a country. Hello dark ages. I'm sending Luvcr her new burkha now, i just hope she knows where to turn in her drivers license since a man will have to be with her at all times. :)

That means maybe keep your political opinions to yourself and drop the incendiary language?

When the media recently consulted the chief of the Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS), Mariano Figueres for his remarks about the alleged presence of members of the Islamic state in the country, the director of the DIS recanted and said that we only "have evidence", although he had ensured the alleged presence of militants ISIS in Costa Rica, detailing even some of them were of nationalities that do not require visas to enter Costa Rica.
Mariano Figueres defended the recent process that exempted from the visa application 8 Syrian citizens who came to the country to participate in a symposium related to security and terrorism, which finally did not take place. President of the Republic, Luis Guillermo Solis, defended the decision to exempt the 8 Syrians from having to obtain a visa. This is not the first time that President Solis supported and defended his friend Mariano Figures, citing issues of confidentiality and security. These were the same reasons that Solis used when crhoy.com announced that Figueres and his girlfriend, Deputy Minister of Economy, Geannina Dinarte, met in San Jose at the Buenos Aires bar on September 9th at night with cars and bodyguards paid with public funds. Both claimed they were discussing work issues in that bar. Pura Vida Mae.

How about this idea?? The forum has a list of different topics right? Lets get control of ourselves and understand that it is possible to actually have more than one topic being discussed and the most important thing??---if we don't like the topic we can skip it! Isn't that great? So if all you want to know in relation to the international living aspects of Costa Rica is where to get Marshmallow Fluff---only read those posts. Many people don't know that Costa Rica has about what---200 political parties? So to pretend that Costa Rica does not have a government and that it does not have an effect on life here is naive. Point being--if you are not the political type that is fine and dandy--just keep your focus on what is important to you and let others discuss aspects of living in Costa Rica that may be important to them? Deal??

INTERPOL: "Although Latin American countries are not among the ultimate destinations of arriving Syrians, Interpol has located a criminal gang based in Brazil that operates precisely peddling the entry of illegal people to countries such as Argentina or Uruguay," cites a report released this Monday by Europa Press. A detective cited as judicial source for La Nation explains that "the Syrians paid the organization for false documents. Indeed, the Syrians who passed through Costa Rica had traveled through Turkey, Brazil, Peru and Argentina. The Syrian woman apprehended in a San Jose hotel had an air ticket to Spain. Order Of ‘Consecrated Virgins’ Will Hold First National Meeting In Cartago.
In the Catholic Church, a consecrated virgin is a woman who has been consecrated by the church to a life of perpetual virginity in the service of God. Consecrated virgins are to spend their time in works of penance and mercy, in apostolic activity and in prayer, according to their state of life and spiritual gifts.[1] Consecrated virgins should not be confused with consecrated hermits and anchorites, who have a different vocation. So this info is for muslims and "you know who" whose poisonous posts have polluted this forum with her "PURE LUV" comments.
The First National Meeting of the Order of “Consecrated Virgins” of the Costa Rica Catholic Church will be held on Saturday, January 9, at the central campus of the Tecnológico de Costa Rica (ITCR) in Cartago.

According to the Communication Commission of the Cartago diocese, the religious event will start 8am.

The meeting will also be attended by Bishops who make the Episcopal Conference headed by the archbishop of San Jose, José Rafael Quirós. The “consecrated virgins” Costa Ricans are about 50 and come from both urban and rural areas, some of them professionals in various field.

Officers of the security forces intercepted at about 6:00 am today in Peñas Blancas de La Cruz, a border area with Nicaragua, an alleged private ambulance carrying five Somalis in irregular immigration status.

In the vehicle were two Costa Ricans named Sandoval and Valverde, as paramedics who were not carrying documents accrediting them as paramedics. Both are being held for charges to be filed with the Office of flagrancy of Liberia.

During operations in strategic locations along the northern border, officers spotted a suspected ambulance and decided to investigate, finding the undocumented Africans.

The Public Force makes constant tours in La Cruz, Guanacaste, to combat smuggling, drug trafficking and the illegal movement of people. The Africans will be referred to Immigration.

ISIS has carried out or inspired over 60 attacks in 20 countries that have killed at least 1,150 people. Officials in the United States are eyeing Costa Rica as a possible location to establish UN refugee camps for those waiting to be screened for asylum in the US as part of a plan by the US to significantly expand its refugee program. Isis militants are allegedly being smuggled into various countries among groups of refugees, a member of the jihadist group who claimed to be in charge of the operation said. Defense Secretary Ash Carter is reviewing a proposal to develop military "hubs" in key locations around the world to fight ISIS affiliates and other terrorist groups, according to a senior Pentagon official. Expats and travelers should be aware that a leaked jihadist text book teaches ISIS terrorists how to infiltrate America and other countries by disguising oneself as a Westerner, in order to slaughter innocent people. The 71-page e-book, is designed to provide prospective ISIS supporters in other nations with ways to disguise themselves and their motives when trying to plan and carrying out “lone wolf” attacks and espionage missions. The ebook advises extremists not to show any signs that they’re devout Muslims so that they do not raise suspicion from national and local law enforcement agencies. For example, no beards, no black hijabs, use a Western name, go to a gym, go to informal mosques, wear Christian jewelry, etc. See something…Say something!!!

You have all that apparently worthless land you've been trying to peddle for all these years why not invite them there?

Speaking of my project---we are now on Phase 4 of the project as we have sold out phase 1-3. Phase 4 is the nicest as almost all lots have stream frontage. Roads are in--water--electric and we have started building homes in Phase 4 as well. I also believe we may be one of the only projects in Costa Rica to have installed dedicated fiber optic internet lines which will make it very easy to have reliable and very fast service if you are doing an on line business. This will be our final phase and the beauty of that as an investor is soon, we as developers will be done and the only resales will be from the owners. The megaport and highway expansion are going full bore and real estates prices are going nowhere but up! We have kept our prices as low as possible and there are not many places you can get a 1.5 acre lot with a custom 1500 sq ft home in a gated community for around 175k. Check out my website and if you would like a copy of my book The Caribbean of Costa Rica Live and Invest on the Last Frontier I can send you an ecopy if you send me your email to the following: [email protected]

The Syrian woman, surnamed Bustati, who was arrested for entering Costa Rica illegally last November, using a stolen Greek passport, was released earlier this year in January, and now works with the Muslim Association of Costa Rica. Due to the fragility of migration control, authorities in Costa Rica ordered an administrative investigation. According to Carmen Muñoz Quesada, vice-minister of the Interior, the results of the investigation will be available on April 26. http://qcostarica.com/syrian-woman-who-entered-costa-rica-with-a-fake-passport-now-free-and-is-working/

Eiffel…your posts crack me up, however I am not concerned so far about Islamic Extremist suicide bombers, I am more concerned about ordering a pura vida sandwich at the Paradise Restaurant and having robbers enter. For example, the assault at the fast food restaurant McDonalds on Sunday March 6 in La Sabana Sur, San Jose, is a much more common sight. In 2015 there was a monthly average of 11 assaults in restaurants; in the first 2 months of 2016 there were 27 robberies.
Hooded, armed and between 3 men entered the establishment robbing several customers of their cell phones, money, jewelry and the money from the cash register. The hardest hit area is the province of San José followed by Alajuela. "A vehicle is parked outside the premises. One of the subjects is guarding the door and the other 2 enter the business premises. One of them is directed to employees and takes money from the cash register and the other proceeds to rob customers. It lasts a few minutes, come in quickly and then escape in the vehicle, "said the OIJ. www.crhoy.com March 8 These type of store, restaurant, and home invasions happen ALOT more than people are aware of since most aren't reported in the news. When dining out, sit near an exit and with your back to the wall.

Radical Islam, "The Long War." Civil Aviation has requested extreme security measures at international airports in Costa Rica, after the attacks that occurred this morning at the International Airport of Brussels in Belgium. Enio Cubillo, director of Civil Aviation, explained that this is a measure taken internationally. "What you do is you go from one level to a higher safety level as a preventive measure. This means increased security measures and surveillance at international airports in Costa Rica”, Cubillo said. It Increases surveillance around airports, depending on the needs. He explained that these measures should not impose much of a further delay in the air terminals´processing and the increased surveillance will remain indefinitely. Crhoy.com

Since declaring its caliphate in June 2014, the self-proclaimed Islamic State cowards have conducted or inspired nearly 75 terrorist attacks in 20 countries other than Iraq and Syria, where its carnage has taken a much deadlier toll; those attacks outside Iraq and Syria have killed at least 1,280 people and injured more than 1,770 others. A massive group of at least 117 undocumented migrants from a variety of African nations illegally flooded across the mountainous border from Panama into Costa Rica on Monday, Mar. 28th, attempting to avoid the attention of authorities by entering the country through several remote areas, according to Costa Rica’s Ministry of Public Security. Of the at least 117 African migrants, 60 claimed asylum after being apprehended, according to immigration authorities. Those who claimed asylum will be permitted to remain in Costa Rica while their claims are processed, but must support themselves during their stay, authorities said. Pura Vida mae. news.co.cr

So I'm guessing they will not be invading Costa Rica anytime soon.

Costa Rica looks better and better the more I read about it.

CCW permits, no Muslims, lowest homicide rates in Central America, very educated population, human rights, relatively unspoiled environment.

The only con is the cost of living, real estate prices etc.

Depends where in the country you live---Central Valley and beach towns are expensive. We have a great project on the Caribbean. Most people have no clue how pretty it is and yet close to town with all the stores we need and a brand new hospital. Because we are not in a tourist area our cost of living is great. Two people can live very nicely on $1,500 a month. We also have fiber optic internet for those who need fast reliable service. Check out our website--www.gvecr.com

yes--of the over 90 buyers we have had they have all paid cash. Now of course a great way to do that is to get a home equity loan at low interest. Many folks have also rolled over an IRA. Many ways to leverage the low interest in the US into Costa Rican investments.

Members of Costa Rica’s Muslin community are helping authorities deal with the 650 African migrants trying to enter the country illegally at the Panamá border at Pasa Canoas. Muslim leaders say that there are immense cultural differences that need to be taken into account when dealing with this group of migrants. African women, for instance, should only be approached by other women.

Deporting 600 migrants back to Africa could be expensive, and impossible. Many of Costa Rica’s so-called “extracontinental” migrants lack identification, and home countries are often unwilling to accept their own citizens without ID, complicating attempts to repatriate them, No country has yet said publicly that it would accept the African migrants. But the government has also made clear that it has no intention of cutting a deal with the undocumented migrants to either let them pass through the country, or to stay here, unless they have a valid asylum claim.

Published in CR Hoy. CR Immigration officials warn that upward of 10,000 new migrants (many without identification) could be on their way to Costa Rica en route to the United States. The majority will come from African and Asian countries and arrive in containers to countries like Brazil, Peru and Ecuador. The hundreds of Africans stranded at the border between Costa Rica and Panama? now? have free movement, as the Costa Rican government withdrew almost all the shelter staff.? ?
An immigration official told ElMundo.cr, “the decision comes from above (Luis Guillermo Solis) not to detain anyone, let them continue on their journey, we don’t have the staff to control so many people.”

The official added that their duty is to register all the migrants, but, they can’t all of them. “The police will not stop them and we will remove all the roadblocks,” said the immigration official.

This leaves the African migrants to freely move north to the Nicaraguan border, where they can then continue onto their final destination, the United States.

Authorities at the Panama border estimate over a hundred people are entering the country daily, this because Panama is also allowing them free movement. The government would like to deport the migrants, but deportation to another continent would be expensive and is complicated by the fact that many of the migrants have no documentation proving where they’re from. No third country has yet offered to accept the migrants.

But Costa Rican authorities cannot indefinitely detain undocumented migrants while they work out a deportation scheme: Crossing the border illegally is not a criminal offense. Therefore, the government recently settled on collecting what information it can about each migrant’s identity, then sending them out the door with an order to check back in with authorities every two weeks.

In the meantime, the migrants can travel freely in Costa Rica and while African migrants are being offered temporary shelter in Costa Rica and enough freedom to try and sneak into Nicaragua and continue north.

Muslims aren't the major problem. It's just a distraction from the real problem, Yes, radical Muslims are a concern, but most mass murders have nothing to do with them. You might want to check your facts and see where the real problems are coming from. Radical Muslims is just a small minority of the real problems.
People are quick to point fingers at what they consider the problem, without acknoleging they are the problem, Check the stats and you'll see what I mean. People feel justified on mass killings like the person who shot up a planned parenthood clinic but abhor killings for a different thing, and they are far more common, Nobody seems concerned about that. Killng for any cause is just wrong,

While Daesh may be interested in getting agents into North America through South America the chances of them planning an attack in Costa Rica are vanishingly small. Despite what you may have been told they are limited in both wealth and agents. They cannot afford to be profligate. An attack on Costa Rica would be an utter waste for them.

Their aim is to start a religious war between the Islamic and non-Islamic world because they now believe that once the world is reduced to rubble by such a war “weak and over civilized” Westerners will be easy to conquer. They had hoped to build a state and a military first but that hasn't gone well for them and they have adopted al-Qaeda's war first, conquest second theory.

Without an army Costa Rica cannot be much of a tool to that end. It is crucial to understand that Daesh wants to provoke the West into overreacting militarily and politically so as to radicalize the Muslim world through backlash. Those who do not understand this, nor are aware of the foul histories of religious wars are the unwitting tools of Daesh and al-Qaeda. More often than not demonizing people converts them into real monsters and Daesh welcomes our help in doing that for them.

The arrivals of thousands of illegal foreign migrants have offered irresistible temptations to those in law enforcement and others. A.M. Costa Rica has reported on busloads of illegal immigrants arriving daily in the south of the country. The security minister, Gustavo Mata, made no mention of this case Thursday, and only two police officers were listed as being dismissed for extortion. Sources have reported that migrants are paying up to $250 to enter the country from Panamá and that the usual split gives $100 of this money to police officers involved.

Costa Rican authorities identified the suspect as a 25-year-old with the last names Ibrahim Qoordheen, who entered the country on Monday through the border town of Paso Canoas."

Wow, Wow! why does this lame thread keep getting dragged up?

Are the "Muslims in Costa Rica"?

Probably, a few but there are no enclaves where they gather to brewed over their discontent and get discriminated against of attacked by skin heads like in London.

Is there a chance that they're planning on attacking the good, peaceful people of Costa Rica or those of us "expats" who love them, yes but I could also get struck by lightning today but I'm not loosing any sleep over that possibility.

I recently posted about a REAL problem in C.R,

"I don't sweat the small stuff but there is a real problem here" about the "Fatal road accidents have become a daily occurrence in Costa Rica, and it’s no wonder many slogans and messages aimed at encouraging safe driving refer to the situation as a “war on our streets.”

"This human-created war is resulting from a combination of factors that range from impulsivity, short-sightedness, boredom, attraction to high-risk behaviors, and dangerous roads."

source:http://news.co.cr/five-young-people-died-accidents-costa-ricas-roads-weekend/60507/

And it went all but unnoticed and received only one comment?

Let this thread go and concentrate on the real problems in Paradise or on what a good life one can create for themselves her in paradise!

Pura Vida!

After the explosion that occurred at the Manchester Arena following the Ariana Grande concert this past Monday, and that left 22 people dead and 59 injured, the artist cancelled six of her concerts in Europe which were part of her Dangerous Woman Tour.

The American singer, however, will resume her tour starting June 7 with the concert scheduled in Paris, France at the Accorhotels Arena.

One Entertainment, the production company in charge of bringing Grande’s show to Costa Rica confirmed that the concert for July 9th at Parque Viva will take place as planned. Costa Rica is the only stop for the artist in Central America, she will also present her show in Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Mexico.
