My husband and I will be visiting Coco in March 2017 and would like to know if there are any specific places where the older expats gather? Any tips will be greatly appreciated!

Hello, I moved to Playas del Coco in July of this year and have just moved here officially.

You can send me a message and I would be happy to meet with you and fill you in on do's and dont's and offer advice on restaurants, rental cars (discount available thru Budget), etc.

There are always expats at Coconutz and Zi-Lounge, both restaurants-bar are in the main street.
However there is no "expats club".

The OP came here asking a question openly.
Someone else showed interest in reading the answers to the same question.
Why can't you give an open answer?
By the way: Budget is not where you get the best rates!
I can get discounts too from Adobe in Liberia but I'm not here to sell anything.
Nelson Chacon is a good friend and he gives good discounts but I wouldn't make it a mystery!
Economia is good too!
If you want to suggest restaurants and do's and dont's and if you are doing it out of the goodness of your heart without any hidden agenda, then speak up publicly and let others get that same information.
That's why we have this forum!-To help people!-Not to promote our agenda!
To the OP: be suspicious of those who refuse to answer you publicly!

Hi Everybody,
We will be arriving in Coco this week for a year-long stay....hoping to meet up with people on the blog that live there. We are very familiar with Zi Lounge and Coconutz...we will be renting a house - wondering about household pests, such as scorpions, snakes, and poisonous toads? We are coming from Tucson, and have found those things tend total away from places with lots of human or pet traffic....thanks for any input!

In over 2 years we have seen a total of 5
scorpions in our condo because we don't spray it as often as we should.
We were able to kill them all!
There are tiny ants sometimes so once in a while we go to the little grocery around the corner and get some spray.
During this period of time they found 2 snakes: one in the laundry room and one in the pool motor house.
In the beginning we used to have little lizards visiting us (inside) but now we hardly see them outside.
As 2 more cats came into the property they started to disappear!

Oh,good, that sounds manageable! ?? I hope our paths cross. I enjoy your input!

I took out a cheese grater yesterday and there was a scorpion on it...

Make sure to always shake you clothes before you put them on.

The little lizards help take care of bugs. You should let them stay.

I'm so happy!
My daughter if so tired of the Canadian long Winter that after her midnight shift (she works for the Police) she took a shuttle to the airport and bought a plane ticket to visit us for 3 days!
We will pick her up at the airport!
You have no idea how many tourists who are here right now are interested in buying here at Cocomarindo, Playas del Coco!
I keep giving them my realtor's info.
The are serious!
I homeowner told me if someone gives 40,000,00 for her 1 bedroom condo it's Sold!-I got her a client right away!
The thing is: I suggested my friend (buyer) to get a realtor to help her with the process by suggesting a lawyer and Escrow account company.
The seller doesn't want a realtor.
She keeps saying that her lawyer is very good!
I told her that her lawyer represents her and her interests, not the buyer!
What a fool!-People are paying those prices by the pool and hers is close to the entrance!
To be honest, I think that for an elderly person who wants to live close to the beach this type of complex is the best because we are like a big family and if they would get sick there is always someone willing to help!-I was just watching through my window a French Canadian going around the pool with a garbage bag and lifting up the "baskets top" to remove the leaves.
These people really love our property!
We have a day where the baker comes to the gate, another day for the shrimp guy, another day for the mushrooms, another day for the eggs, etc...
Then we call each other to let them know that the vendors have arrived!
I'm trying to lose some weight but the French Canadians keep bringing us "bombon au batate" made with smashed potatoes and peanut butter!
Not to mention their delicious soups!
One tastes like chilly!
I wish my parents had spent their last years in an environment like this!
My new neighbor who just bought a 2 bed, condo is amazed how everybody came to greet him!
Khol, I know you are happy in the country and you have many dogs but one day if you want to have people who really care for you we will welcome you here!
