Dumb question? might be! Is ice readily available in the towns and villages throughout Costa Rica. We are coming with someone who needs daily ice for a recent injury.

OK, afish right up my alley!

Yes you can buy ice all over the country! two problems,

a) ice chests are ridiculously expensive &

2) even with one your ice will melt VERY quickly

I never leave home with out frozen water, juice, cocktails, two liter bottles from my own freezer or if your lucky and nice from the freezers of restaurants and hotels.

I hope that you heard it here first!

Haven't looked, but I'm assuming you will be near a fridge with a freezer to make your own.

But suggest you bring a couple of those blue gel things to put in freezer. They last longer and are not as messy as plain ice. Get them at sporting goods departments or grocer. Might be here somewhere, but haven't looked.
