To good to be.....practical?

Hello everyone. I am currently planning a trip to CR, and boy has it been a ride. I've went from the initial "paradise" phase to realising that just like every other place it is not perfect. I am really taking it all in. Hearing about the robberies and scarcity in stable income to the beautiful peaceful and spiritual nature of CR.

I decided to start my journey for a new home with CR because of the ability to live so in tune with nature and a relaxed and peaceful life. I am from north america and this society and lifestyle is slowly killing us. I am a young man (25) with a family of 4 just scouting out a new home for me and my family. I am obviously not retired and currently don't have any passive income or online work, so I know that is one of the main concerns if we would like to live there permanently.

I do have some time before I am looking to move, and I am aggressively saving to create a good life for us. Personally, I have absolutely no intentions of staying near the more touristy locations.

Can you all share some of your experiences with me, good and bad. How is life on a daily basis for you? Are other younger families there? How does it differ from the country you originally called home? What do you do for work? If you are retired, how do you like Costa Rica. Is it an ideal place for children? What advice do you have that you wished you had known before your move?

It can be a great place to live, if you can afford it.

It is an expensive place to raise a family and it is not cheap putting them through school to get a good education since you can't legally work for a few years.

This forum will be most useful if you do some basic research first and come back with specific questions. You would need serious savings to come here with a family since you can't work so I would start there.
