I am visiting for a week. A friend recommended buying a burner phone. I can't really decipher my notes from when I talked to her. We are flying into San Jose on Sunday, planning on renting a car if we can find one, and driving to caribbean coast.. i would assume buying a phone, if this is what i need to do, would be easier in capital? any thoughts, info very appreciated. this is a last-minute vacation and I am scrambling with planning it.

If your current cell phone is "unlockable", you can enter the unlock code and just buy a cheap SIM card at the airport. They'll even help you install it. Pre-paid cell plan is cheap. Save your original SIM card for reinstall when you return to your own country. If your current cell phone is "locked", just buy a cheap disposable pre-paid "burner" at the airport. It may cost a couple of dollars more than in some down-town kiosk, but you'll save the time and hassles. Not sure if your phone is "locked"?? Call your current provider and ask. Depends on model of phone.

Thanks! I was looking at a cost for room and it was listed as 972 with the lowercase c and two lines through it before the number: Sould that be interpreted at 972,000; that would make more sense in terms of fee?
