And if you will be in CR during Christmas, offer a helping hand to senior citizens because many older adults are abandoned by their families not only in the hospitals, but also in their homes during December. The records of other years indicate that for this 2017 about 200 older adults will be abandoned by their families. This Wednesday the Ombudsman's Office launched a campaign with which they seek that society in general becomes part of the fight against violence and the abandonment of senior citizens.
There are currently 440,799 older adults in the country and by 2050 it is expected to be 1,262,311.
Between January and September of 2017 a total of 3,877 cases of aggressions related to older adults were reported to the 9-1-1 Emergency Service, of which 1,383 for psychological violence and 196 for ?physical? abuse.

Check in your town to see if there is a 'Hogar de Ancianos' (seniors) or an 'alberque de PANI' (kids). Christmas tree lighting at the Puriscal orphange is usually in the first week of December. The government takes care of the children living in the orphanage. If you wish to donate gifts, Christmas, birthdays, etc. they can provide names of children who live at home but are very poor and who won't have a very merry Christmas. Here is a map of orphanages. http://www.pani.go.cr/servicios/directorio-de-contactos

You must have a very good heart!
Recently I have been checking other countries including Portugal and I have noticed that you posted this same request about Thanksgiving everywhere.
I think you want to make sure that no one is left out.
I found it even in the Israel expat forum.
Good for you!
Aalamgeer also shows that he cares for the poor and the elderly(not sure if it is he or she)
May God bless you both!

"Sportsmens Lodge Hosts Annual All Your Can Eat Turkey and Football Dinner"

"Once again, the Sportsmens Lodge in downtown San Jose will host turkey dinner to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday for Americans in Costa Rica. Both the “all you can eat” serving and the 15,000 colones price tag is unparalleled among restaurants in the central valley. Seniors, over age 65, also receive a 50 percent on the price of dinner."

Lets keep in mind one thing here--the Sportsmans lodge is focused on a sport that is not a family friendly sort of thing if you know what I mean!
