We are an English couple who would like to relocate to Cyprus permanently. We are interested in the area around Paralimni. We would appreciate any information on Buying Property from developers - what are the risks? How to find a good solicitor? What is the situation regarding working - is this difficult to obtain? Also any info. on shipping goods / car. Many thanks.

Hi willow

We have purchased a plot of land just outside Paphos this year and are having a house built by a local builder. He was recommended by a close friend who has bought a house from him. We went out to Cyprus in May and contacted quite a few Estate Agents and developers (via the internet) first. They were all very helpful and met us at our holiday appartment and took us to view properties. The big developers like Leptos are much more expensive than the smaller ones!! We are planning to move to Paphos next summer and are going out to see how things are progressing in November. If you would like any contact numbers for our developer in Cyprus please let me know. We have found an English solicitpr in Paphos. The solicitor fees are quite high though (this applies to all solicitors in Cyprus) between 800 - 1000 Cyprus pounds.

Good luck

Hey Willow,

My family recently moved to LArnaca, Cyprus from South Africa. We bought a house in the Larnaca district from Africanos Property Developers and are very pleased with Tasos the director. He also introduced us to a lawyer called Poitis who was very good.

Hi we have purchsed a property from a small developer in Larnaca. I would suggest taht you use a smaller developer. The larger developers have higher overheads for marketing etc. They also often work on larger plots of land. This can result in long delaays waiting for the title deeds to come through. I can recommend developers for you if you like. Please let me know.
