Does anyone know of small coves accessible by car? We prefer them to long stretches of beach. We are trying to choose where on the island to settle and being close to sheltered, quiet, preferably shallow water is a big factor. They dont have to be sandy, in fact rocks (as long as we can get into the water safely) are preferred to the greyer sand in some areas. We are searching the whole island. :-)

The Eastern Cyprus area is full of these little coves. All along the coastline from Ayia Napa to Kapparis. Sirena Bay is a very nice cove that doesn't get a lot of traffic and they are currently cleaning up the cove/beach and adding a walkway along the water.

Thanks! Do you happen to know of a good hotel or even just a central area we can look for a one night stay to explore? We'll be looking at the coves, towns and residential areas.

A lot of the hotels (apartment hotels) are booked through agents in the UK and usually for a week or so. I haven't stayed in hotels here (I live here) so I really couldn't recommend one in particular. It also depends on when you want to come. Hotels in Pernera and Protaras are closed from 1 Nov to April. There are hotels open in Ayia Napa in the winter. Ayia Napa can be more for the younger crowd in the summer, but in the winter we get lots of Scandinavians who stay 2-3 months. Will you have a car? How much do you want to spend for a hotel? Do you want 5-star? An apartment? There are just so many to choose from.
