I would like to open a discussion on the details of moving to Prague and obtaining sharing experiences on living there.

" My husband and I are planning a move to Prague next summer. We, too, would like to hear from folks in similar situations or from people already there. I''m willing to share what little info I have garnered. "

" Dear Nicole I would recommend the book by Tim Nollen, Culture Shock -A guide to Customs and Etiquette - Czech Republic, Graphic Arts Centre Publishing Company, Portland, Oregon, 1997 as an excellent introduction to living in Prague and Czech Republic. I got my copy from Amazon. There is also David Short, The Simple Guide to Customs and Etiquette in the Czech Republic, Global Books Ltd, 1996. Both are outdated on the current economic situation but otherwise excellent background. Good reading Edward Watkin "

" hello! I am moving to Prague on July 1 and was wondering where on earth I can find information before I go about roomate sharing. I am a journalist in my mid-thirties, female, non-smoking and there seems to be no listing anywhere of people in Prague looking for roomates/housemates. My max is 8,000kc a month and I''d like to be not too far from the center. Any ideas? Many thanks! "

" I would like to move to Prague also. I don''t know anything about the process of relocating to another country. How do I look for a job, an apartment/house, what do I do about getting a visa, etc? Any advice on how to start would be great. Is the Czech Republic a difficult country for an american to move to? "

" My husband and I and our two sons (6 and 4 yrs. old) will be moving to Prague as of Aug. 2. We have a place to live, but I traveled there specifically to check it out and find a place. It also helps that we have friends there who know real estate people. I''m still filling out the visa paperwork - they do ask for a lot of stuff but the general attitude seems to be that you make the attempt to do everything, but then there are ways around it. It''s a bit hard for me to adjust to - I like to have everything nailed down. I''d love to hear other people''s stories! "
