Ahoy

Im looking for some advice/help. I am a british man living in London at the moment but at the end of june i will be moving to the small village of Vykmanov near Chomutov.
I have very little knowledge of the Czech language and have no job lined up yet, But i give it my best shot because i find the Czech republic a very beautiful place to move to.
So if there is anyone that can give me some advice that would help me i will be very gretaful.

Best Regards

Shad

IMO your best shot would be to try and continuing doing what you do for a living in the UK but from Vykmanov!

Obviously if you are in many professions this is not practical but I know a couple of people here in Brno one from the US one from UK who have managed to continue working for their original employer in some modified form while living in the CR.

You need a good internet connection ( better in most places in CR than in the UK I've been told by people who know a bit about it.)

If it isn't possible to arrange some thing with your employer then look for something you have experience in which is also possible to do from your PC.

It's important to arange this before you leave the UK.

My reasons for suggesting the above are that it should give you a decent income by CZ standards and also give you the time flexibility to enjoy the attractions of the CZ.

Locally employment wise, I think you are going to have problems I'm afraid. I don't know the situation around Chomutov very well but I believe generally it's an area of high unemployment.

The jobs not requiring Czech language skills are in general based in Prague or Brno.

Of course there's always English "teaching" qualified or not you'll be welcome somewhere as a native speaker. Good fun, but meagre financial returns.

So, basically try and transfer the skills you have via the internet or locally if their not language based ( if you have a trade for example) .

Oh yeah, and get a grasp of basic everyday Czech as soon as possible.

Shouldn't be difficult in Vykmanov :-)
