Does anybody know a way of getting around this incredibly expensive tax? I am thinking of moving from France to Denmark later this year and would want to bring my car. However this registration tax is making me think again. I would appreciate any advise Thanks

" Registration Tax on Cars Thanks your reply. After visiting Denmark last week, I have decided not to move. Living costs/taxes/cars etc. are just too expensive when compared to France. thanks Tony Halliwell "

Even that deal is not very good. A fairly new but inexpensive family car will still cost the poor expatriate about 2500 DEM every 3 months just to have the pleasure of helping a Danish company employee more people and compete in a competitve global market. And the nice folks at Told and Skat will also KEEP the money you pay when you leave the country and take the car with you. Why do you people continue to re-elect these idiots anyway? Rhody

" I have paid the tax for my imported car. This is really not fair because the only way to recover the tax is to sell the car in Denmark. This is completely incompatible with fast moving in EU. There is law which will be issued soon. This law will allow to get the tax back when a danish car is sold abroad. Anyway I won''t wait for these lazy custom people if somebody is interested by this car. (Renault 19 Diesel, first registered 11/1994, 151000 km, price 65.000 Danish krone). As I''am now working in UK I will also consider an exchange with an Right Hand Drive car. "
