Hi guys,
I just got a job offer from Siemens in the amount of 39000DKK monthly, before tax. the job is in Brande but i've been told that it is better if i live 25 km away in a town called HERNING. they are offering relocation expenses in the amount of 20000DKK and cover a month staying in a hostel till i can find my own apartment. my questions: *approximately how much will the net salary be? they've told me to calculate an estimate 46% taxes. *is the amount enough for a single person to live decently?
Thank you very much, any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi Nicoleta
It is hard to give a precise answer to your questions, without knowing what YOU expect of a decent living. Do you want to dine out most of the week? Do you want a car? A small car? A large car? Want an apartment with a garden? How large should the expected apartment be to suit your expectations? etc.
On the other hand you can surely live, and live well, on a monthly salary of a DKK 39000, to give you some perspective the average salary for all Danes ticks out at DKK 24350 per month. The numbers for the average monthly salary, before tax, for a couple of occupational groups: Police officers = 30000 Architects = 36000 Veterinarians = 38000 Engineers = 45500
The tax percentage sounds about right, but there are various ways to obtain tax deductions. One is to have a daily commute of 25 km or more. Another deduction is obtained by being a member of a trade/labour union. So to that point living in Herning would probably qualify you for a tax deduction.

Yes, Denmark is not known for cheap cars. If you wanted a car, a brand new small car will cost you around DKK 5000-6000 per month, this includes everything from fuel, insurance and depreciation of the car, but still this is a lot to fork out. The selling price for a new small car is around DKK 100,000 (13400 Euros).
I checked public transportation, you can also do so by using http://www.rejseplanen.dk/, and looks like a 45 minutes to an hours transport from Herning Train station to Siemens. A monthly travel card (Periodekort) will set you back DKK 750 according to this pricetable https://www.midttrafik.dk/priser-og-billetter/priser/prisoversigt-2015.aspx.
Apartment vice I did a quick search using (http://www.lejnu.dk/) and it seems you might even be lucky to rent something for a little less than 800 euros. Please note this rental site does not come in an English version :(
If you decide on taking on the offer from Siemens, then Welcome to Denmark. I hope you'll end up having a fantastic time in our little Kingdom.

Be careful with the relocation expenses. Unless the contract says it is net of tax then you will need to pay tax on whatever they reimburse you (c. 10,000 DKK) as it is a taxable benefit.
