Hi All,
My husband has just been made redundant so we are looking at exploring our options.
We are UK citizens, he is a Mechanical Engineer and I work in Corporate Communications/PR mainly for oil and gas and we have a 7 month old daughter.
We are just starting our journey into looking to relocate so would really appreciate any help you can offer.
We have no idea of locations - we are mainly small town kind of people but I think it would depend on where we could find work.
Can anyone reccomend agencies/websites we can look at to find jobs?
What is the best place for a small family?
Has anyone experienced daycare for their child?
We understand that owning a car is very expensive but how do people get around??
We would rent a place for the first year or so - do they come furnished? What are utilities and every day expenses like?
Plus any tips/tricks etc.

Hello there,

I saw your post and must say I know how you feel. I too was made redundant in November. But the Dutch law are quite protective to the employees and was quite generous to pay out 8 months of salary as compensation after 10 years of service within the same company.

Now I assume you are living in Denmark, your husband should get something similar from his formal companies. As an aerospace engineer, I think there are plenty of opportunity if you look like places in Germany, Denmark, Holland and even France. What kind of work does he wants? Permanent of contract based? You need to know this for yourself. Search online for job posting, like EuroEngineering job, etc. Plenty of opportunities out there on the market!
