Hi,
What do you think is the best area on the Pacific Coast in terms of beauty, reasonable real estate, quaintness, accessabilty to the Cuenca or Quito?

Hands down it is Bahia de Caraquez, small quaint town with the most comfortable weather on the coast. 8 hours by bus to Quito or go about 2hrs by bus to Puerto Viejo or Manta then 30 min air to Quito. Live by the ocean here cheap! I now have a bed and breakfast business here. www.ecohostalbahia.com

I have to agree with the Bahia comment. It is the most beautiful place I have ever been, even better than Hawaii in my opinion. The people are wonderful and friendly and everyone gets around in eco-friendly bike taxis. The water is calm and safe. I would love to retire there some day.
