Who knows. I've heard 300 but I am sure there are many more. Many do not go to meetings etc. and many are from other countries. I assume Cuenca has the most....

Have never been to Ecuador yet, but a Teacher that lives there told me there were probably 400-500 Expats in Cuenca.

Hey, I have my eye on Cuenca as well. What appeals to me is the Weather and the fact the City is suppose to be very walkable, with enough expats to feel secure.

Would love to consider the coast, don't think I could swing the denaro's , pesos, oop,s DOLLARS!

Good Luck!

Cuenca is Spendier than most of the coast and climbing.
Manta prices might resemble Cuenca prices
I can not speak for Salinas (H and Kimberley's domaine) One poster moved out of Manta because he found Salinas area more affordable.
Silverwater knows Guayaquil Although I saw a very nice condo in old Guayaquil for 30k recently renovated.I thought it was beautiful.
More North Crucita about 6-7000 population, or on up to San Clemente or Canoa IS MOST AFFORDABLE.
A condo right on the beach brand new can be $40k on up whereas I have seen Manta condo prices in the 190k on up range.
Coastal weather, always has a breeze and have found it to be perfect year round.
Arid climate mostly in the Crucita Manta area.
Gorgeous ceibo forests and arid specific plants.
i have always felt boxed in in the mountains and my dream was always to be near or on the ocean. So as vandtor says its personal what each one of us needs.
