Manta Furniture

Does anyone know of any stores in Manta or Manta area for the following items?
1) Quality wood beds
2) Quality memory foam mattress or quality regular matresses
3) Quality wood living room furniture.
By quality I mean something that will last a few years in the beach air enviornment, hardwoods, and no metal.
Last year I went over the bridge accross from the main fish market and drove through a huge daily market with alot of furniture stores but just passed through driving around. We then kept going for a couple of miles to a large mall.(dont remember the stores but I do remember the 4 leches cake in the food court.) Should I look in this area or specific mall or specialty stores?
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Ameridorian 1961,
Beside Hotel Oro Verde,in Manta, there is a high quality furniture store called Bamboon?
There is a store also ,(can find it by taxi) Aboyaca or find it on line, worth looking at.
In Monte Cristi, maybe 10 minutes ,from Manta,a taxi will take you to a couple of stores ,where they make custom outdoor furniture.... wicker, bamboo etc They have ,half a dozen large catalogs to choose from.MANY OF THE fifth avenue ,upscale stores purchase high end ,custom furniture there and ship it back to New York
Never been to New York ,so I may be a little off with the fifth Ave statement
For REAL HIGH END furniture ,you would find on the street leading up to Quito Hotel ,a street, similar to Rodeo Drive ,catering to the super rich.
One chair can cost thousands. These stores are always locked and after you ring the bell ,they will open up and let you browse, when they see who you are ,if you are not scary looking
It is not difficult to have furniture brought over to Manta from Quito Many expats do that
In Cotacacchi, same thing,an entire street of leather wares and a few furniture stores ,also have very high end furniture
,custom leather furniture You can even take your beater vehicle there and have it spruced up with a showy leather seat re do
As for beds ,We saw some top notch mattresses (A king cost $1,000) in a store in mall del sol in Guayaquil Mi casa su casa? I have a bad memory
Mi Casa Su Casa has high end furniture also and it is only 3-4 hours away to have stuff brought over to Manta and they will do all the arranging for you.You can buy for example subzero and high end appliances there.
Every Ecuador mall has a more generic furniture store .The quality is middle of the road but still good and well priced.
There are numerous cabinet makers in Ecuador too, where you could take any picture along, from a dwell or metropolitan design magazine, choose any hardwood and they would replicate it for you The sky is the limit

In Cuenca, there is a mattress factory ,where you can customize your mattress and they have numerous levels of quality options,,materials to choose from etc.
Just a little adventure ,explore and patience and you will be good to go
ENJOY
BEST TO YOU

ILA,
Thanks for all the helpful information.
I have 7- 9 days after arriving in Quito before my wife and son arrive. I have family in Quito and am familiar with many of the malls and towns around that area. Su casa is a nice store.
Last year I purchased a washer & dryer in Quito and drove it to Bahia only to find a similar set in Manta for a couple of hundred more so I did not want to make the same mistake with furniture.

If I can arrange shipping easliy from stores in the Quito area then I will buy the items there.

One of my wifes brothers living in Quito has beautiful handmade wood furniture and says I can stock the whole home for around $3000. No information on shipping to the coast though.

Is it common for these higher end stores in Quito or Quito area to arrange and ship items to the coast for expats? I wanted to check out San Antonio de Ibarra furniture outside of Quito.

Additionally, Is the mall with the king mattress in Manta?

Bamboon, beside Hotel Oro Verde,in Manta, can order a king mattress for you.
The mall did not have a king size and could not order it ,in the bed that I liked .
They may be able to ,in other styles of beds though
I was only interested in one particular bed style.
Because my husband is over 6' 2" i did do some exploring.......thought that there were a lot of options and a wide range of pricing
Although nothing in Bahia,EXCEPT there is a Norwegian or maybe he is Danish, who is building a home and formerly had a furniture business in Denmark or Norway and it was HIGH QUALITY He is making his own furniture in Bahia. His home and furniture are supposed to be spectacular
Doc in Bahia knows where you can find him OR the owner of COCO BONGO would know how to track him down He may be one of a very few Scandinavians in Manabi

Considering this post is from 2011, I hope they found a bed in 5 years. :)

But I suggest El Senor Colchon. On av 4 de noviembre entre calles 116 y 117.

Lilliana there speaks English and they have everything you need for a home. They hand made a bed frame, end tables, kitchen table, chairs and barstools for us in 4 days. We also got a washer/dryer, oven and hood range from them. We did a bunch of research and shopping before going by their store just to make sure of pricing. They were below by a little to alot. But saved a ton and the wood working is fantastic.
