Hello, though I don't live in Cotacacchi, I decided to respond to your post. It has to do with moving to Ecuador. Please allow me to introduce myself, I am Manonne Fontainne and my husband and I live in Cuenca, currently assisting new ex-pats and ex-pat wanna-bees to move to this beautiful country.
In this email, I would like to explain more about Relocation Services of Ecuador “RSE). If you obtain a residency visa, you will be eligible to import your household goods within 180 days of your decision to relocate to Ecuador permanently and that is where Relocation Services of Ecuador can assist you.
Please allow me to introduce Paul Wilches, President and co-owner, and Nathaly Consuegra, Manager and co-owner of Relocation Services of Ecuador (RSE). RSE offers relocation services from anywhere in the world to anywhere in Ecuador.
I have been assisting RSE with international customers after RES successfully moved our household goods to Ecuador. We met Paul Wilches during our first visit to Ecuador. Though we interviewed several relocation specialist at the time, we decided to contract with RSE for reasons below.
RSE provided a comprehensive outline of their services; detailed every service that was included in the contract, no hidden fees, no add-ons.
RSE provided superior customer service and were on top of everything regarding the shipment of household goods, customs, fees, and all the behind the screen activities involved. They made arrangements to pick up our shipment with the container at our warehouse on time; notified us when the container was loaded onto the ship; when it arrived in Guayquil; when it arrived in Cuenca; when the custom's agent was ready to go forth with the inspection and delivered our container to our door in Cuenca in the evening to avoid any delay over the weekend, and Paul, the President of Relocation Services of Ecuador, was there to supervise the unloading and made sure everything went safe and smooth. He stood in the street for 3 hours while his crew worked quickly to empty our 40 foot container.
All along Nathaly took care of all the inventory examination and translation, coordinating each step along the way to the finest details I don't even want to mention, and made sure we received all the information we needed to make this move go smooth, safe and stress free.
Now, that I am a proud member of this organization, I look forward to assisting you by answering all your questions, advising you on how you best benefit by selecting otherwise overlooked items to consider in your shipments, the best way to pack your household goods, and providing you with the best customer service.
If you need housing, we can also assist with that, too.
Looking forward to working with you.

O2betraveling, your best bet for finding North American expats in Cotacachi / Otavalo is to go to the Cotacachi Expat Facebook page. Ask to join. In a few hours or so, they will "admit" you to the group and you can participate with all the folks living htere or in the process of moving there. All the Cota news is there every day. A great bunch of folks, by the way!
