IF anyone coud offer and opinion, I would appreciate it so much. In trying to make a decision re Cuenca, Ecuador and San Miguel de Allende. I have been to San Miguel and loved it but I understand Cuenca is also beautifull for many reasons. Has anyone out there been to both? Also, I have pets and wonder which one is easier when it comes to adjusting and acceptance in the community plus ease of bringing them? would someone care to comment? I am a woman in my 60's very fit and youthful in appearance and have a zest for life including horse riding and the arts.

I am in Cuenca. There was a gringo who comes down from San Miguel de Allende to fish in the Caja park near Cuenca. Can't recall his name, we encounter so many folks. Very avid fisherman. Ask around if you are in Mexico now. He returned to Mexico a month or two ago. Someone will recognize him. He could relate the two places for you.

Or, come down for a visit. Plenty of folks do bring pets but I do not have direct experience of that. Porque no tengo esposa o mascota.

I can tell you that the only way to discover what is right for you is to come visit .

The process of bringing in dogs and cats is relatively stremlined, you will need to start planning 60 days in advance as any updates for rabies vaccines need a 60 day in advane time period. The documentation needs to made to the USDA and then certified with the Ecuador Consulate in your country 10 days prior to fflight date. And the flight originationation must be at a location that is no hottter than 80 degrees F at takeoff so your pet is not over heated.

But before all of that...visit the locations and see which calls to you!
