Whoooohoooooooo! I love Moderator Appreciation Day!

Free beer and hot dogs around the pool at Oceanhideawy!

Thank you Oceanhideaway (not just for the free beer and hotdogs) but thanks for keeping the forum troll free, informative, fun, and up to date. You're fearless, smart and really know your stuff.

I have no idea why you keep this job, but I'm glad that you do.

Dear Susan~ My wife and I appreciate all the time you spent suggesting medical referrals for her CML and the time spent acquainting us with Salinas ExPat meeting places. Thank You for all you have done to make the ExPat Forum a sane and safe place to freely exchange ideas. We should also remember the work Susan does to help the less fortunate in Salinas and the Coast. Doc&Rene

Thanks Susan for the nearly thankless job of policing the forum. I will be out west, the wild west of Ecuador, in the not too distant future when my feet get itchy again. When I do I will be sure to introduce myself...after a bit of teasing no doubt. Hasta then.

Probably gifts would be better than a lot of words...

Or money.

I been reading this forum for years...and there were times where I would click off for months... just because of all the trolls and garbage that was being posted. It's because of Oceanhideaway's diligence as a responsible moderator that I have returned as a regular lurker----- as well as to read the information and views of some of the other posters who are obvioiusly authentic, honest, entertaining, helpful, and clever about Ecuador living do's and don'ts.

Has Moderator Appreciation Day really come to an end?

The Moderator Appreciates you too...

...even if she was on hiatus for the past...7 days!

(though she left a sitter)

I got an eye infection (conjunctivitis or "chinaman´s kick" as they call it here) and was...actually blind for about 4 of those days ..oh joy!

Gauze pads and cold packs and antibiotics and the whole shabang...

This was a lovely surprise to discover...though I was told about it from...yes ...folks who lurk and tell me these things as I twiddled my thumbs concerend over just what could be happening without my finger in the pie.

Just know that the Ecuador Forum would be nothing without its members...you are the power behind the machine.

...now about those boxer puppies.... :D

About those puppies...

dayum...I just thought those were mosquitoes that wouldn´t let go!

...as for who was watching you?

why as always there is the Administrator who keeps a watchful eye on all of you and often makes judicious cuts all on her own...that have nothing to do with my own ...though many I highly approve...

So for Administrators day... I vote Betsy Burlingame ...who owns and runs this site...without whom none of this would be possible :)

Have a quick exam of your nose. You seem to spend a lot of time devoted to casadecuenca. Perhaps that is something you should get advice about but, not to worry. Male to male bonding is in vogue now. You can come out.

I am glad you have been following some of my posts in my effort to help fellow expats fend off the unscrupulous fellows in our midst. It is thanks enough if it has helped you preserve capitol while here in Ecuador. If you choose to ignore good advice and instead launch ad hominem attacks upon the messenger instead of the bad element here, try your luck with GOL. He will have a field day taking your money, while appearing to be only a successful expat businessman. You may fit in well with him, he will show you a brown nose also in order to separate you from your money. Caveat emptor for wounded healers also.

Just curious...since this isn't really a classroom, and we're not employed by the expat forum gods, what exactly would be the benefit of brown nosing?

Am I missing something here?

Meaning of a brownoser...2. to seek favors from (a person) in an obsequious manner; fawn over.

3. (idiomatic) One who brownnoses (flatters or humors somebody in an obsequious manner for personal gain); one who sucks up.

I need to collect some favors then. Some personal gain. Who do I see for this? Does Oceanhideaway's have a coctail lounge? We could start there.

Remoore...you keep thumbsdowning me...and I always thumbs up you..Where is the kindness? Where is the trust?

Hmmm... long way to go to sing a lounge act though...

Funny story though...

Folks have trouble announcing my ethnic last name when I perform so I do shorten it to just the last 6 letters...

...Singer... isn´t that perfect?

Thanks for the reassurance Remoore. There are only a handful of posters here that I view as being honest. You happen to be one of them. You're not only knowledgeable, but we happen to have the same view point on many things in Ecuador besides good scotch. (not everything though...I like sinegos long posts. The longer the better).

Plus, there was this one time when a chump was being inappropriate, and you very fearlessly called him out. Not just on the forum either. I usually don't agree with that sort of thing, but the guy was waaaaay out of line. That was impressive. The fancy dancing get's tiresome.

If I ever get out of this hotel California (loved Peabody's analogy) you will be a forum member I will truly miss).

You're starting to nod off..I can sense it, so I'll get right to the point.

Is my brown nose browner? Then where's my scotch?

Wait a second...shouldn't we have a poster appreciation day?

Tambopaxi...Why thank you Tombopaxie. I will take you up on that. I've noticed that you know a lot about Ecuador. Ecuador seems as normal to me as Mayberry (been around awhile).

Africa? It' makes freeze and hold my breath. I don't have a clue as to where to begin. South Africa? Johannesburg? Thanks to IMAX, the desire for a safari trip has been lessened, but..I do plan on making it to that continent some day. Of course I'm curious as to how or why you are managing these two location extremes but I'm waaaaaay to polite to ask.

There are myths of my causing incredible destruction in and around Salinas...

So I appreciate your kind comprehension.
