Family of 2 1/2 - We are Coming to Ecuador!

Hi All-

We are a family of 3 (with a 7-month old) and will be coming to Ecuador in early November to scout out a few places (Quito & Cuenca and maybe another location) to pick one (or more than one) for an anticipated 3-month long stay in Ecuador we have planned for Jan/Feb!

We (well mom and dad) have more or less traveled the world and want to our daughter to begin to see the world through this “different” lens. We understand that a couple weeks in Ecuador next month will be a whirlwind of trying to find the place that gives us that “feeling,” but with plenty of travels under our belt we plan to scout out some places and specific areas of those places and find a place we feel comfortable (safe) and excited to call home for 3-4 months. (a quick note – we are ok with the altitude [the baby has already been to Costa Rica at elevation, and we eat everything!)

I know, there hasn’t been a question yet…we are really just interested in potentially meeting up with a few ex-pats in both Quito and Cuenca (those with kids and without) just to chat, get some recommendations and advice. If anyone would want to show us around a bit or point out some areas for good rentals for our 3-4 months stay, that would be great, but just being able to meet and chat would be hugely helpful to us! We know that doing this via email is also a good start, but we also know nothing substitutes for being there.

Any advice, comments, referrals, etc. (especially those regarding having the baby with us) would also be welcome as we build our “binder of notes” for the trip and stay!
