When my wife and I come to Ecuador in March/April we try to bring inexpensive items that can be used as favors for people who are especially kind and helpful to us. These items are usually something that can be purchased at the dollar store in the states. When we went to Thailand the native tribes appreciated pens, pencils, notebooks, tooth brushes, candy bars (maybe before the toothbrush), cheap sunglasses, cheap pocket knives, Team hats and shirts, etc. By handing these out you would not only help the locals get something they can not normally find or afford, but you also get amazing smiles from the kids and a good friend.
Can anyone provide me with ideas of items that are inexpensive, but can make great favor gifts to hand out as a token of appreciation?
