Cuenca questions

I'm going to visiting Cuenca with my 23 year old adopted son for a week beginning January 2nd. The trip is partly to reacquaint him with his homeland and partly for me to think about Cuenca as a retirement destination. This will be my third trip to Cuenca. I was there for a week in 1985 and then again for 2 1/2 weeks in 1997 for the adoption.

I've been researching the trip online but have a few things I can't find.

Is there any sort of online events calendar for Cuenca? I'm looking for music, culture, or other special events?

Can you recommend any good places for Ecuadorian folk music?

Are there any professional soccer games scheduled in Cuenca for Jan 2-4? (Or in Guayaquil Jan 9 or 10?) I can't find future schedules on the team web sites.

Are there any regular expat gatherings? I'd be interested in dropping in.
