I am planning to move to Ecuador in January 2016, I would like lo rent a Beach front apartment , so I would like to know more o less how much are the rents and what will be the cheapest location and safe too for a single woman. I also like to know if all the beaches around Salinas are like surf beaches or if they have any waveless beach? Thank You very much for your cooperation.

Salinas and Chipipe Beaches are facing north on the Peninsula and are very calm, swimmable beaches except during exceptional tides known as aguajes.

The beaches on the south side of the Santa Elena peninsula are the Mar Bravo, bravo mean fierce, and they have strong undertow and currents and rip tides. These are the beaches popular with surfers and while not "prohibited" to swimmers, swimmers should stay clear of these beaches except in small areas where the currents are lighter due to entering estuaries or cliffs that create tide pools (such as la Diablica)

For a beach front or close within site of beach you will pay between $800 to $1200 a month for a safe apartment. Often a two bedroom apartment will come available and there are often single women looking for roommates. There is a women's coffee clatch group and they share info about roommates amongst the group so as you get closer in, join the Ecuador Coast facebook group and sign up for the COffee Klatch newsletters.

Bahia has surfing on the coast side and easy swimming on the river side. I know of one single young women who lives there, and was surprised to see so many others as well.
